Looping pad resume point

Hey there, I was wondering if there was any way of making the playback resume from the point where a loop has been released. I found that, when using the loop pad, for example, if I hold the loop, when released, the track jumps to the time where it should have been had the loop not played instead of resuming playback as usual.

For example, lets say the playback head is at 00:24 and I hold a 4-beat loop for 6 seconds. Assuming a 120 bpm track, each loop would take 2 s, the playhead would loop 3 times from 00:24 to 00:26, so, whenever I release the loop, playback should resume from that interval, but I find that playback would resume from 00:24 +00:06 = 00:30.

Is there any way this behavior can be changed so that playback doesn’t go past the loop?

Thanks!!

Hi,

I am having the same issue with the Pad Loop AND the Bounce Loop. I am getting expected behaviour from the Auto Loop fonction.

So with the auto -loop, once you release the the loop, it keeps playing from the end of the last length of loop that was active. With the Pad and Bounce, its like the playhead keeps going in the back and you are not sure where you will end up back in the track (the long you loop the harder it gets to guess).

This makes its barely useable. You cant do a loop and filter before a drop because you might is if you release too late, and you will cut the song earlier, chopping out parts you might wanted to keep to leave room for the loop.

Please fix this!

Which version of djay you using? It sounds like you have “slip” activated

Thats really odd … I tried it on the same set up and couldnt get that to happen unless i had slip activated.

Could you show a screenshot of how you activate the loop?

Hi guys,

thank you for your help DJ Stub.

Please note that this behaviour of the Pad is expected, you can compare how it would sound without the background playing if you go to Auto and reduce the Loop continuously.
That is also a work around for your problem Nico.

I hope I was able to help you guys.
Cheers.

Hi Karl,

at the moment if you want to create the same effect like the pad but without the forward jumping, please activate a FX and use the “Loop” “Bounce” buttons.
Please note that I forwarded this issue internally and we will see if there is a way to implement both ( with the jump - without the jump)ways.
Thank you in advance.

Cheers.

I’m using 2.8.1 and no, slip is not activated

I recorded a video of the issue, here it is http://youtu.be/Ecxdk2vbXE8

Thanks for the clarification on the tool usage, Lukas!

Hi, don’t quite understand this response. I am also struggling to stop the loop pad from skipping forward once release finger off pad. Ie if I hold pad for 10 seconds it will jump forward rather than continue where I was.

Could you explain a little further?

Thanks
