Thanks for Spotify Integration, BUT
Please let us play our offline tracks, for those of us without internet connection.
Let us play the songs in our Playlists that we have downloaded from Spotify
I do understand you have to check to see if we are active subscribers to allow us to play our tracks, but maybe just have your app require you go online just once a week let's say,
After 1 week your app would not allow Spotify without internet,
The way it is now, i can't play my tracks on my Wifi Only ipad when in the car, or in places without wifi :-(

SO yeah Serato today announced they would offer streaming support via Pulselocker and guess what is included OFFLINE support.
https://serato.com/pulselocker?utm_so... -
I'm amazed at how caustic this conversation has become (as if Algoriddim has personally offended people, kidnapped their children, etc. by not implementing such "simple and essential" functionality). Claims like "because you can do it with iTunes, of course you can do it with Spotify" or "I can't believe you haven't made this a top priority" are ignorant and insulting.
So, as a developer myself and in the interest of defending the hard-working Algoriddim dev team a bit, let's set the record straight.
The Short Version
Algoriddim can only cache data if Spotify allows it. It has nothing to do with the fact that the Spotify app (built by Spotify) can cache that same data.
The Long Version
- "Sandboxing" refers to how apps can communicate/transfer/etc. their data between one another. In this case, it's simple: iOS will not allow you to transfer arbitrary data from the Spotify app to djay – period. It's irrelevant if you've downloaded offline tracks within the Spotify app; Apple's OS restrictions prevent that cached data from being transferred to djay. Done. This isn't Algoriddim's fault; Apple made the decision and Apple owns the ecosystem.
- If we consider how djay currently grabs Spotify data – via a direct connection to Spotify's API (by means of their iOS SDK, I'm assuming) – then it's easy to understand that caching within djay can only occur through that same API. A quick glance at the SDK reference guide shows some promising signs that Spotify allows caching of its data. That said, (a) the documentation is sparse, (b) it's unclear exactly what may be cached, and (c) it may be the case that even if this is possible, Spotify restricts which developers can use the functionality (they've been known to do this in the past).
So, gang: let's all just chill out a bit. Algoriddim is working their butts off and have provided a staggering amount of functionality to this app; they do not deserve the unfounded criticism (or condescending tone) they've received. Being able to DJ any track on Spotify anywhere, anytime, without any regard to network connectivity is a heavy-duty request that would have been downright laughable just a few years ago. Perhaps you should consider buying the tracks you need for offline iTunes usage if this is so crucial to you.
If you continue to feel the need to make your voice heard, might I suggest that you (politely) inform Spotify of how much this would mean to you? They control the API, which means they control how easy (or feasible) it is for djay to incorporate functionality like this. -
I agree that offline use of spotify integration would be awesome and I am hoping that this will eventually be possible, but I also think that some of the comments here are pretty negative considering that Algoriddim was innovative enough to be the first DJ App that offers this integration! Having access to millions of songs is insane.
I just played a live set at a party for 4 hours using Djay2 and spotify with a wireless connection and didnt have a single issue or delay. This software rocks!!
Admittedly you have an issue if you are in a club in a cellar somewhere with thick walls and no wireless.
It would definitely be a good thing for Algoriddim to figure this out with Spotify before a competitor comes up with something similar offline. -
What I find interesting is that djay doesn't permanently cache the songs it plays from Spotify, which is essentially what 'offline mode' is among most other apps -- including your web browser. This would totally negate the sandboxing problem.
The way it works now is that when you select a Spotify song in djay, it loads the entire song into one of the decks and caches it until you replace it with another song. It does this so your track doesn't abruptly stop while playing (e.g. buffering).
Why doesn't djay just maintain the cached song, and then, if the cache becomes too large, allow the user to clear it out?
Is this a restriction placed on djay by Spotify? Is it about ensuring that Spotify is aware of every time a particular song is played, so they can pay their royalties to the artists? Is this something that Spotify and Algoriddim can work on together to overcome? -
Algoriddim,
This app cannot be taken seriously, or used professionaly until Spotify is available Offline.
It is simply insulting to expect us to be stupid enough to rely on an Internet connection during a live performance. And this whole "sandboxing" excuse is insulting & dishonest - it works with iTunes, it can work with Spotify offline if you want it to.
I am very angry about the fact that this is not mentioned before you buy - this is dishonest marketing.
This App has been uninstalled as it is useless to me until this is fixed.
I used to have a lot of respect for you Algoriddim - please restore that respect by reversing this dishonest decision (yep, this was a decision NOT a technical issue) & apologizing to your previously loyal users, as soon as possible - preferably Imediatley.

This just needs to be done ...
Without it spotify integration is pretty much useless! -
Spotify offline desperately needed... It has to be done. I use Serato to play out live at the moment and making no plans to take Djay & iPad to gigs until this is done. The software itself is not as capeable in a club environment but I would use it over serato despite its limitations if I could have my Spotify library without WiFi connection.
I bet you 90% of the people on here who play out regularly feel the same - I'd make it top priority. -
Spotify is good and all, but rarely you can rely on internet when DJing. Even if it's a home party.
To me, having it playing offline songs from Spotify is what actually would make sense and interesting.
I don't know much about developing, "sandbox' and whatever. But not only it access iTunes library (as wynmjones), as it connects to other apps like DropBox, loading songs from and to...
So, would be realy neat if you guys look into this ASAP. -
How can djay access iTunes but not Spotify? Essentially they are both mp3's existing as a file on my iPad. I'm put off buying any hardware and taking this software to a professional level until this is an option. I'm actually going to add this opinion as an app review as I believe it's a major flaw that really needs to be sorted.
-
Hi Everyone,
First off, thanks for your feedback.
You should probably know that due to "sandboxing", a security feature for your own protection, apps have absolutely no access to each other's workspace. This means that djay has absolutely no access to the songs you download in the Spotify app. These songs are only available for the Spotify app itself.
djay currently does not support offline playlists, but we'll be sure to take a look into this.

I proposed dynamic queues as a possible legitimate work around. You can see it on its own thread. If you like it up vote it http://community.algoriddim.com/algor...

I planned to use this app in a live performance but as other users have said we may not rely on an Internet connection.
I hope you can improve this necessary function, we all love the Djay software, you have done a great work, but with adding this function you will go to the top and beyond others
I just read that this topic started 3 year ago,is this because of permission?
Then why Spotify itself allow to reproduce offline during 30 days while you keep paying a premium user, I think is only to integrate the same to Djay -
-
If THIS is build in, i would buy the software! Currently iam looking around and djay pro for mac is on the maybe list.
(2 points are bad)
- no offline support
- very high tempratures in retina mode (IntelGPU is burning :O) -
-
-
-
please allow offline, if you do it i will stay with you for a long time pleaaaase
-
-
Spotify offline is one thing I could really use. Please Algoriddim, add it.
-
-
If I could offline with Spotify /dj pro on occasion I would subscribe to Spotify - it could be a great solution also regarding the cost effective licensing of digital tracks for public performance as a DJ
-
-
bla bla oofline playlist support now thats it...if you dj pro license and spotify premiun....what else are we supose to need...stop been there doing nothing and do what you have to do...
-
-
if spotify can play songs offline ...why cant djay pro...?? im so mad and frustrade about this mmmgggg...bla bla offline playlist support now thats it...if you dj pro license and spotify premiun....what else are we supose to need...stop been there doing nothing and do what you have to do...
-
-
wth are you guys bitching about?
Yes it's should be awesome if it supports offline playlist.
But also bullshit @AL and other said about you can't rely on the internet connection. total bullshit. I assume you also have songs on your hard drive???? Once the song is loaded to the deck your song doesn't stop when you don't have an internet connection... Only a big logo appairs NO INTERNET! but the song keeps playing till the end. In the meantime, you can load a song from your hard drive into the other deck and play it until you have internet again you cry babies. Ripped off? cry more noob and do some research first if you buy like me. Really hate those guys -
-
Hi,
Now this is on Windows - will you be able to bring in offline playlists for this version/? -
-
it will be awesome if you can at least do this on the cpu version. i understand that sandboxing in the iOS can be an issue but it shouldn't in the mac OS X.

Hi there,
Last week I played a gig with spotify.
There was a mid strength wifi signal and had no problem at the sound check.
After a while people start to come and the wifi signal was blocked a bit and the song loading time got longer.
Then the venue got more crowded and the wifi signal got completely blocked (which I haven't considered before) :(
Then I played some songs from the computer and connected the pc to internet via my cell phone.
But it was a silly situation.
To sum up, offline spotify support is needed :) -
-
Offline Spotify implemented in Djay Pro would be great!
There are so many people waiting for the update.
You may catch the date from the offline songs out of the Spotify app :) -
-
I don't care about how it gets done but we really need Spotify downloaded/offline library support please...
I have djay pro, Spotify premium and I downloaded certain folders/tracks in Spotify I would need for a gig yesterday. I assumed djay would read the downloaded Spotify tracks. It didn't. I had poor wifi reception and my hotspot had spotty reception that kept cutting in and out. I didn't have time to download all the tracks I would need as mp3's during the week. Needless to say I had to return some money to the customer and was truly embarrassed. I don't care what everyone else says, thinks or assumes, all I am asking for is that the developers for djay pro please add this feature. I love the convenience of the program and the new technology. You make my life much more easier djay team but again please do what you can to add this feature or let us know what we can do to help. Peace! -
-
Its true listen to this people,if other apps could do it, so this can too, i use the app for djing, great app , i have to connect my phone so i could play my music from spotify..go offline is the right thing to do..
-
-
Call me cynical but I think the reason this issue hasn't been addressed so far is that Spotify might produce their own DJ app in the near future and that will be the game changer all they have to do from then is sort out the pre cue issues yet another bug bear and we are aware with DJ pro issuing a lot of refunds
-
-
Being as you can only download music on Spotify if you're a Premium user and you need to be a Premium user to access Spotify via djay, I don't understand why it can't be updated to access your downloaded content when no internet connection is available. How about something like a once a day online check-in to validate your Premium to enable this feature to work.
-
-
Spotify integrated is cool, but it would gorgeous if djayPro could read the Spotify offline data !
-
-
Like many other topics ... algoriddim remains silent. Maybe their focus is on your wallet instead of customer satisfaction. What could be the best DJ solution turns into domestic "CPU intensive & always online" software.
-
Im hoping thats not the case as I have a lot of respect for what they've done so far. I left the world of Serato and Traktor (along with my closest dj friends) and we couldn't be happier.

Okay people, you need to scroll up and read the information posted above about WHY Djay2 cannot support offline.
-
-
Sandboxing.................. Spotify also forbids this. Same with Deezer. Pulselocker is currently the ONLY streaming solution with licensing for public play as well as offline caching support via DJ apps. Blaming Algoriddim is easy to do sure but personally I prefer to keep things accurate.

Just had a support question and stumbled over this thread. I have to leave my comments here because i am a musician (and occationally djaying with djay pro).
I cannot understand how someone really can complain about the fact that djay does not have offline spotify integration.
In most cases, an app like djay is used commercially or at least to bring pleasure to the crowd. However professional produced music cannot be free, unless you make your own music more or less professional...
If you just download all the new music for 10 euros a month and do not buy any of the songs anymore, you simply cheat the producers of those tracks.
I appreciate the spotify integration as it is because it often saves my ass.
On the next day i check then what i played via spotify and if i think the song was not a one time thing, i go to a itunes store or amazon and then BUY this damned track!
It is all about appreciation i think... -
-
Use your damn phone and set it up as a hotspot if its so important to you. Kids these days have no respect for the fact that their DJ elders actually had to do sets with a limited number of records that they lugged around themselves. Whipersnappers!

GOOD BUT HELP ME
-

My company does approximately 200 weddings a season, and we send of team out with under 1000 songs. I never get reports about DJ's getting complaints about not having a song. Our clients are always thrilled and have a good time.
On occasion, we don't have a song. 99% of the time, it is one that wouldn't play even if we had it. the other 1% of the time, we reachout to an online streaming service.
Most all weddings have dance receptions between 3-4 hours. At best, that's around 80 tracks. 99% of all weddings, have at least 15-20 tracks that are identical, 75% have 50% that are idenctical. The balance, is always very predicable, and discerned by requests and monitoring whatthe quests are dancing to.
The only time this varies is for highly ethnic weddings, such as Hindu weddings and the alike. For such wedding, we make sure that are guys are equiped with at least 40 genre specific tracks, if you will. This represent 50-70% of most reception periods. If the client wants all Hindi music (as an example) we ask them to furnish us with a list of approximately 40 songs, from which, we can determine just what they are desiring. Then we find additional matching tracks, and add them to our primary music folder. In this way, we typically arrive on site with no less than 100 genre specific tracks. For us, in 2017, we only had 6 such weddings, and Spotify wouldn't have been much help... -

Hi, I'm a professional DJ And I use to perform with two CDJ 2000 nxs and a digital Allen & Heat mixer. I'm also a Spotify Premium subscriber, for my personal use and I also bought djay to play sometimes with my friends :
I also cannot understand about complaining about Spotify offline integration.
Please remember that Spotify (online or offline is the same) is NOT for public performance but ONLY for personal or home use.!
So please if you wanted to perform with this software buy the songs you want to use as we do!!! -
-
If DJ Pro is pitched at being a tool for DJs playing out who want a rock solid experience then it HAS to support Spotify offline tracks.
No-one with any common sense is going to risk trying to play music to a room full of people relying on the local wi-fi signal.
In fact on the web site it does say "djay Pro combines rock-solid stability... for performing DJs."
If the end user licence of Spotify excludes using it for public performance - then I am unsure why we are given these mixed messages - and wasting our time considering this tool?
I've been using Mixxx to play local files for the last few years (rock solid never had any issue when playing out) and just looking at Spotify as an option as a source of music - and am trialling DJPro 2 this weekend - oh well - looks like it is time to remove the trial. -
-
-
-
I understand why the don't make it offline. Spotify doesn't want that. And if you realy want you have to pay much more....
-
-
Right now today you can load 4 songs from Spotify onto a 4 decks and as long as you do not shutdown the app you can play these 4 songs even if there is no WiFi. So What if the same idea was applied in staging a playlist of songs from Spotify that stays around as long as Djay stays around. This way you would not be saving songs off line but rather just doing what you can you can already do just with more songs. The songs are not saved as when the app is shutdown the songs 'evaporate.'
Is this something you can look into Lukas? It is not exactly what everyone wants but seems given the hand delt this might be within the rheum of possibility. -
-
Glad to see this thread picking up traction again. I'm still really craving this, 3 years later. WIFI or tethering is still just too unreliable.
As an alternative approach, perhaps djay can pre-buffer any song added to the Queue. That way, when they are transferred into a deck, they're already fully loaded. This would allow us to get ahead a little bit if the Internet isn't reliable enough. -
-
If you want to listen to Spotify offline, all you need to convert to mp3 format, here I suggest TuneFab Spotify Music Converter for it not only convert Spotify to mp3 but also to FLAC and other formats.

Tank you is that working

First off no point in moving to lossless files as original is 320 at the highest. Second it is reasons like this that Spotify/algoriddim realistically know what to/not to offer. This is 100% up to Spotify an tthere is no more Pulselocker or any other streaming service offering offline use with dj apps.
-
-
-
-
There are other DJ software companies that have an agreement with Pulse Locker (song streaming service) Algoriddim has been mum whenever it is suggested they try to partner with them or whether the agreement with spotify is exclusive.
This will continue to be an issue until
A. Spotify decides to change their API (not sure they feel there is anything in it for them given that Users of DJay probably represent .00009% of their market.)
B. Algoriddim Partners with another streaming service that allows offline storage.
C. A creative solution like I suggested about loading the spotify playlist into DJay memory such that if the app gets terminated or the machine gets rebooted they are gone until Wifi can restore them. This is the only legal way I see of dealing with the current limitation of the spotify API. -
-
-
Was not aware of that. Thank You. It would be cool if they could make an agreement with Apple Music or Some other streaming service.

Also depending on the venue you might be able to get a hardline ethernet cable. But most likely not. So Instead..
For me in addition to my MAC book I have DJay Pro on my phone. On that rare instance some request happens and I need to go fetch something from Spotify I can stream out from my phone to my mixer. The rest of the time I will be using my MAC.
For all the saber rattling It is a bit of a pain but it is something that can be worked around with a little preparation and effort.- view 4 more comments

Deejay Dave He is not saying run DJay on the iPhone. He is saying use the iPhone stand-alone (if supported) or in conjunction with the router to give yourself a hotspot for you MAC or iPad or whatever. That way you do have connectivity to the internet and you can use Spotify. I think the concern for some may still be that cell connectivity may be subject to problems just like WiFi. However this is another possible solution that may work for some. Thank you Omer Barias

Are you speaking to me in regard to what I said? If so .......
"For me in addition to my MAC book I have DJay Pro on my phone. On that rare instance some request happens and I need to go fetch something from Spotify I can stream out from my phone to my mixer"
.............. clearly states he is using Djay Pro on his iPhone. -

Spotify has bigger problems now. Even with its limitations it might be our only hope. Pray they survive the latest legal action. http://news.abs-cbn.com/business/01/0...

This device seems to allow spotify songs to be loaded offline. Maybe Algoriddim can come to a similar arrangement for their software?

I agree with the other guys here, plz integrate Spotify offline mode in the Djay Pro.
Its a pain in the a** when you have bad internetconnection / non internet.
Can ́t you integrated it so that Djay Pro looks at the "offline/downladed tracks" directly in spotify
I truly think this addition would make Djay Pro the absolute best DJ solution available. -
-
It is hard to let Spotify Music offline playing until you have some tools for removing DRM or transferring your Spotify Music format to popularized music format, like mp3. Hence, I suggest a tool, say, TuneFab Spotify Music Converter. Try it!
-

These adds are being posted all over DJ forums. DO not feed into it. Most of them do not work anyways............. There are some that do if you really need one but get there on your own terms by searching etc.

It just my experience with this converter, it did works!

djay pro is the best app ever, at the beginning I thought it was expensive but after seeing its integration with spotify I loved it.
I learnt about the offiline issue the bad way, I was in a gig with a free wifi, and suddenly after 1 hour playing the songs didnt load, the wifi was having problems, but as a Professional I have my own mp3 also, and I also have a lot.
I am also a software developer and I understand that some SDK or API have some restrictions, I support the company on this.
People that dont have mp3 files for offline playing and are blaming algoriddm, are just losers! as simple as that, they have no idea about development, no idea about technical limitations, and have no idea about doing offline purchases of MP3 at beatport?
Keep up the good work!- view 1 more comment

well, for those professional DJS, they should buy the tracks from beatport or other source, if they are proffesionals, they get paid to play gigs, they have the money to buy tracks, period., I sometimes buy tracks, I havent seen the first professional BIG dj with djaypro and using spotify on a big gig. Still it would be a nice feature, but not required for big professionals on the field. Most of the tracks in spotify are short radio edits and not extended mixes, which make most EDM tracks useless.

Luis
You are 100% spot on!
I will add that it is Spotify and not Algoriddim DJ, that isn't facilating this request.
Well perhaps even more to the root of things, copy right laws.
In a professional / commercial setting Spotify is on thin ice. So thin, Spotify may not exist with the feature sets it has today, in future years.
If you are making money as a DJ, you should simply buy the tracks that you are using, and only turn to Spotify to meet requests, that are outside of your personal library. At least IMO.
Now, all of this being said, YES; it would be quite a thing if DJ PRO or PRO 2 was able to Cashe Spotify content. But who cares, we have been living and prospering without it since the birth of the mobile DJ industry.
Years later, and the answer from the powers that be is loud, and clear - NO...
If that changes, the same powers that be, will absolutely let everyone know, through this forum and all advertising channels, that they utilize.
Cheers -

Hoping that some developers does also read here i have a suggestion, or a feature request?
However, would be a "half"-offline solution thinkable? I could imagine it like this: when the machine is online, we can load spotify content to the queue. But when the machine goes offline it would be great if the songs would stay in the cache so that they could be played without a (fast) internet connection. And i see a benefit even if this cache does go away by quitting the djay app. -
-
Guess there are no further updates? Having Spotify tracks offline is the difference for djay pro between a professional trustworthy program and a gimmick.
-
-
The best solution is the ability to save/download tracks with DRM. Next time you are connected to internet, all the stream counts are uploaded and the appropriate parties are paid for the streams. This feature is about reliability for me. I often DJ in locations that have poor internet connection and it makes the software quite unreliable to use. Every gig it will cut out due to reception issues, it's just a matter of time. I have to have another audio source on loop to quickly switch when it happens. That said, I love having the ability to play any song on Spotify and even discover music during a gig. Great product.
-
-
Spotify app has to provide APIs to acces offline data so that security is not compromised
-
-
Well, actually I'm willing to pay even more for my Spotify monthly subscription, if I could have offline access to my tracks.
Currently Spotify premium 9,99€, so Spotify dj-premium let say 15-20€ might be really interesting option with offline tracks. -
