Weird Japanese Symbols??????? HELP

I’m getting quite a lot of music in the spotify browser showing up in what looks like Japanese symbols. I have changed my language and location in OS X and then changed them back, restarted etc but i have no idea why - its really affecting the search function too!

OSX 10.11.6
Djay 1.3.1

No idea. Tech support have no idea and haven’t got back to me yet. I have tried everything and nothing has fixed it.

No it always happens for me. I have tried on various networks.

Hi guys,

thank you all for feedback and we are very sorry to hear about this issue.
We could not reproduce this issue so far, so every information about your setup (device, operating system version, djay version) and location would be very helpful.

Our apologies.

Hi Mareks Motte,

this is very interesting. So now your Spotify Artists are getting displayed right again?
Can you think of anything you might did between these two days which might have fixed the problem,
installed an operating system update or anything else?

Thank you in advance.

Cheers,
Lukas E.

Hi guys,

like Jamie Carter said, it would be very interesting if updating your macOS is fixing the issue, please keep us posted as replicating the problem is still very hard for us.

Hey guys,

we finally found a workaround to this problem. It appears that if the device language lists contains “Japanese” Spotify is changing some Artist names even though the devices main language is set to English.

We will contact Spotify and will inform them about this bug. In the meantime please do the following:

If you are being affected in djay Pro for the Mac:

  1. open System Preferences

  2. click Language & Region

  3. delete “Japanese” in the Preferred languages list by selecting it and click minus

  4. click Keyboard Preferences…

  5. make sure to delete “Japanese” in this list too

  6. restart djay Pro
If you are being affected in djay 2/Pro for iOS:

  7. open Settings

  8. go to General

  9. click Language & Region

  10. click Edit

  11. delete “Japanese” in the Preferred Language Order list

  12. restart djay Pro

We are more than happy to finally help you with this annoying issue. If there nevertheless should be anything bothering you, contact us right away.

Thank you,
cheers.

Yesterday I had the same problem!!! Today starts Djay again and everything is back to normal.
Any ideas?

One thing is clear. It is not a Spotify issue.
Because at the same time on the iPad Djay app all lists was correct.

Hi, Lukas!
I’m just the next morning after the party opened again djay app, and everything was ok. Only difference was the network what I using. It had a mobile network from the iPhone hotspot.

Later I’ll try again this configuration.

Hi, again!
I tried to induce the same situation, but did not work out. All artists now appears correctly.
My OS vers. 10.9.5
Djay Pro 1.3.1

Yes, Lukas. It happened when I using iPhone hotspot.
But now I can’t repeat this phenomenon.
And I have not changed any settings…

I’m having this same problem and can’t seem to get a fix either. It’s been happening for a few weeks.

That’s the fix. Downloaded Sierra and now everything is back to normal
