Can I use my music library from my external hard drive?

So I spin with a Macbook Pro and Numark Mixtrack Pro 2, and I don't have enough space on my laptop for my music library. It seems that Djay only uses my iTunes library for a music source; is there any way I could use my external hard drive?

Hi Alexey,

Yes, you can either just drag and drop the songs from Finder onto djay's turntables or Queue box, or you can use the external HD with iTunes.

Let me know if you have any further questions about this.

go to the bottom left corner of djay pro and click on "My Mac" (its the smiley face). Then a section on the right side of it opens up where you can click on "add Folder" (now you can add the folders you have on your external drive)

I know this is an old topic but I am have been searching for the answer to the below Q...

When you add folders is there a way to make the library show all tracks including the subfolders as well. This way you do not have to go to each folder individually to see whats in there.

My Music is from promo pool and the downloads are in muiltiple folders. Serato and Traktor reads the sub folders and has a show all page so you do not have to did. Is this possible with Djay Pro (MAC)?

Hey charles,

all folders and subfolders are being displayed after adding them in the "My Mac" library.

Hope this is helping.

They do show, but are not searchable if they are on a drive that is NTFS. Why is this?

These files on the external hard drive need to be searchable otherwise this feature isn’t relevant to a working DJ trying to queue up requests. No one has time to dig through 300 gb of files in the external.

See above - I have an NTFS drive and it won't search it. Useless. The drive is mounted correctly with Paragon for full read/write access. How they are charging for this piece of tat I don't know.

How about creating an itunes library on the external drive, if iTunes is loading from the external drive then you should be able to access everything on that external drive from the "iTunes" feature.
