Add choice of FX to a track’s transition.
E.g.:
Low Pass to Normal as the song fades in
Normal to 100% Phaser as song fades out.
The duration would be automatic, for the length of an automated transition, and for the length of the manual fade between tracks OR the effect could stay beyond the mix until turned off
