DVS Support would really shake up the competition.

Please add DVS support to Djay across all platforms/OS

If Djay supported Digital Vinyl you would see a lot of users of Traktor and Serato switch over to using Djay.

Hi Warren, could you answer Stuart's question about DVS?

Also if you do add DVS is it possible to scale the size of the turntables on the interface so it is possible to make them bigger/even fill the whole screen, in the same way that that this is possible on ios when you turn the screen. Coming from vinyl a real point of difference Djay Pro has is the vinyl waveform emulation on the turntable graphic. The ability to control the software through vinyl whilst being able to visually see the breaks in the song would in my eyes put Djay pro far in front of the competition.

Hey there,
I've just started to use real Vinyl and I'm thinking about getting into timecode.
Since I've used Djay and Djay Pro before (with my trusty el cheapo Hercules Midi Controller) I'd love to use Djay now with a turntable.
Since It's now called Djay Pro I think DVS is definitely a part of pro DJ software.

Some hints to algoriddim:
There is a open source DJ software called mixxx which supports various timecode vinyls. The part that is handling the Timecode comes from another open source DVS system called xwax. It can be found here: https://github.com/xwax/xwax

I haven't received my timecode Vinyls yet, so I haven't tested that out so far.

Sadly xwax is licensed under GNU GPL v2 so you can't just integrate it into Djay without open sourcing it.

But you can use it so learn how the different timecode formats work and implement them yourself.

Sorry if my english isn't perfect but I'm not a native speaker.

Have a nice Day
Lennart

Hey Dave,
If you like Serato and you are willing to pay for hardware just to use a software you are fine. But not everybody likes the look and feel of Serato or likes to spend extra money.

Other than its intuitive MIDI mapping and Spotify I can't think of anything it does that wows me. Between the panels, the limited GUI, the out of order features it just does not work for me professionally. It is fun to play around with no doubt but the largest reason I can not use it professionally is the lack of 1:1 platter capabilities. In other words 360 degrees does not always equal a full rotation. In other words scratching is literally just emulation where it is actual and precise with almost every other DJ app.

Out of curiosity what is the appeal of Djay Pro for you? I am asking seriously as I am just curious. I mean ultimately I would love to use the Spotify feature but is not allowed to be used commercially anyways where Pulselocker for SDJ and Rekordbox DJ is legal to be used commercially.

Hi Dave,
just to be clear: I'm not a person how earns money with djaying so the Spotify point doesn't count in my case. I'm just what most would call a bedroom dj.

I do like Serato's software but I dislike their licensingmodel. I'm still a student so my budget isn't that big so I am willing spend about 400€ just to use DVS.
My Turntables have integrated USB Soundcards to capture the Timecode signal. So the only things I'd need in theory are some Timecode vinyls and software.

I've tried out the described setup with mixxx and it works quite well, but mixxx isn't really integrated with OS X and their Midi mapping is terrible!

Traktor would be an alternative but I personally don't like the look and feel of the software. I've heard that DVS is supported by them only on Traktor certified hardware but you could get other hardware to work.
I haven't tried that because I don't have access to Traktor Vinyls.

Djay Pro is in my opinion a good mixture of the other Software on the market.
If they would integrate some basic DVS functionality I'd be very happy!

I hope you can understand my point now a bit better :)

Just as one more alternative assuming you use iOS devices have you considered DJ Player Pro? Great midi mapping, great DVS, and cheap all around all with almost NO latency, streaming and even dropbox support.

DVS support would make me switch from my Traktor setup tomorrow!!!! Any further information on whether or not this is going to be integrated into Djay in the near future?

Yes please. Before I just will spend £500 for a serato software and hardware I really would like to know. Because if djay pro will comes out to supporting DVS I just gonna buy a second hand serato box to practice still the DVS support comes to djay pro. If is not gonna happened I will uninstall djay pro. We all like the djay pro app because is brilliant and extremely nice but without DVS is a king without kingdom. I really wish to use it with my turntables mixing real vinyls with digital files. Just tell us please is gonna ever happened or not?

Says you. Where I come from companies are always teasing new features and interacting with their user base. This was always the case with video game companies. Also, regardless of what they think, they aren't curing cancer. It's a DJ program in 2016. It should have dvs.

at least now we know (tanks to Lukas) that algoriddim knows about our wish regarding DVS :)
Hopefully they decide quickly when to integrate the timecode functionality.

We'll see what the future brings!

There is currently only 1 iOS/iPad/iPhone DVS solution: http://djplayerapp.com
They have managed to do it using the iPad Camera Connection Kit and a NI Traktor sound card.
The great thing about this solution is that you will instantly get loads of Traktor users on board because they already have the hardware required.
Please Algoriddim.....we really need this!!!!!
I've been a Traktor and Serato user for years and would happily ditch the pair of them if Djay supported DVS.
With your integration of Spotify and DVS you have a great USP.
Kind regards
Stuart
PS We also need a button on the main GUI so we can quickly toggle the crossfader curve to cut mode without going through the menus.
This is a MUST to get all the Turntablist/Scratchers on board.

The Traktor hardware is by no means necessary for DVS with DJ Player. Trust that doing this will not get you loads of traktor users any more than you they got loads of Serato users when they added SDJ controller support.

FTR the ONLY reason power users of either Serato OR Traktor would use Djay is the Spotify integration and this would be for fun only as you are not allowed to use it professionally.

"The Traktor hardware is by no means necessary for DVS with DJ Player. "
What hardware would you recommend using then Deejay Dave for DVS on DJ Player?

Also. What features of Serato and Traktor do you have to use to be considered a "power user"?

FTR the only DJ's I know who use DVS are turntablists and all they're interested in is Cue points and being able to manipulate their digital tracks with pinpoint accuracy using timecode vinyl.
I believe Djay is more than capable of this and I would much rather use a tablet running an app than my laptop for this purpose.

Kind regards
Stuart

I figured that the reloop controller that they just came out with that kind of looks like the AMX, that something like DVS for DJAY could be in the works, I would really hope so because the "DJ player" app is cool but its all glitchy on my ipad air 1, and does not support Spotify, and we do not have Deezer in the US. But it sounds like from the hint up above its on its way lol

I am assuming you mean VDJ and they do not work with partners or respect licenses. They do whatever they want whenever they want. They do not need to fear of stepping on any given manufacturers toes with releasing info too soon as they never got the blessing from said manufacturer and are doing it against their will in the first place...........

Mainly I need timecode to use with djay pro on my MacBook. For me the killer app of djay is the Spotify integration and I really want to combine that with timecode vinyl for my MacBook. On the iOS side of things, timecode seems like overkill.

Why do you think timecode on iOS is overkill?
I'd much rather use an iOS device than my MBP if it were possible because of the touch screen.

I don't understand it either. There are however other alternatives and I know lots of people who are ditching Djay in favour of DJ Player which offers DVS on the ios platform. It's a shame because literally 1000's of DJ's on the turntablist forums said they wanted to stick with Algoriddim but the lack of DVS support forced them to switch.
Maybe one day soon they'll see sense. In the meantime DJ Player is the one to use.

I wonder what turntablists be doing with Djay in the first place let alone sticking with them. If you have a link to this the massive support would indeed help out as the number of peeps asking for this here is not all that great compared to say Spotify offline support etc. DJ Player is a great solution as well and even Edjing has introduced DVS support in its new Edjing Mix app. Thing is though these all are a bit lacking due to the nature of mobile DJ SW. Fun to play with and very effective but compared to Traktor, Serato or RBDJ which largely include a legal streaming option among its numerous advantages.

Then again I am a firm believer of having the right tool for the job so I do understand how mobile may be good enough for others who may need so much etc.

But anyways if you could provide a link to these 1000's of DJ's asking for DVS support in Djay I am sure it would be very helpful for this cause. How could they ignore that much attention right?

Sounds like an in-app purchase, a bit like the FX would be a nice option. Though it means one would mean to repay this on each major release.
