Midi feedback for button functions need setting for on and off. You can turn on LEDs but in many cases you can not toggle it off again.

The Midi standard does not really have a query or conditional logic. If setting was passed through you can grab the value and save it. You can assert a value and know that too. If something else changes a midi value and it is not passed through your other device would not know. It is a draw back. What device are you trying to map?
