Reloop Beatpad and DJay2 gain/volume issue

Hi Guys,
Big user of the product.
A couple of months ago I bought a reloop beatpad and use it in conjunctio with my ipad air 2 which has been just awesome. However I have been plagued by an issue involving the gain knobs and their co-relation to actual volume. Quite often when I switch tracks the gain is not at the correct volume and I have to twitch the gain knob and suddenly it jumps to the correct volume. The result is a sudden jump in volume that happens at the start of almost every track. You can understand this is not a very good thing to happen and so I find I have to remember to give the knob a little tweak before I drop the next track :/

any thoughts?

I had this problem with my beatpad when I had auto gain/reset eq checked in djay preferences. Disabling them solved it for me.

Thanks Alex!
I have never said this before but your app has changed my life.
I am out pretty much every weekend playing big big parties/gigs with these toys and it has been the best year of my life.

Now you guys just need to work a miracle and satisfy the one fatal flaw in your program and that is Spotify and Offline. We know you can do it! We believe in you!!!

Same problem with Beatpad 2, but I was thinking "EQ Reset" setting was the cause.

Hi guys,

two settings can lead to the gain jumps.

1) The "Auto Gain" is activated (Settings -> Audio Analysis -> Auto Gain)
2) The "Reset EQ" is activated (Settings -> General -> Reset EQ)

Please tell us if the problem is persisting after trying these two setting changes.

Thank you in advance.
Cheers,

Lukas E.

Both settings were OFF in my case. But Gain problem disappeared (Reloop Beatpad 2). Was it hidden update by the app or something else? Still, the Filter is working improperly. Example: I left the filter button in certain position, not zero. I load new track. Filter sounds like it is in zero (default) position. Even more strange left and right deck behave differently! On left deck I need to return it to zero and then rotating it makes effect on sound. On right deck I need to just slightly rotate it to make effect on sound.

Luke.
Following last Friday's dance I can confirm that both settings were off as they were the previous month. I set the gain once on both channels and did not touch again during the dance in case of volume drop however volume just dropped randomly about 6 or 7 times during different tracks throughout the evening, I did not notice this the previous month. Unlike a club environment where volume is at much higher levels and volume drop probably not as noticeable at these levels, volume has to be carefully controlled at a ballroom dance and is very noticeable. I do hope you can fix this problem soon.

Juri, thanks for letting us know it was beatlad 2, at least you’re talking in this forum not like the people who sell these products and then let there customer down by promising to fix known issues. As Alex said they know it’s an issue and over a year now with no fix.

Mabbs just proves this issue is not fixed. Juri I see you’ve not come back to tell us the secret fix!
And as usual Algoriddim don’t come and help the people who buy there products as don’t Reloop.

I know this is an old thread. But thought I would let you know that I have been plagued with the gain issue for ages, but now I have resolved it!
The gain volume jumping up and down when you touch it, is normal I’m afraid! See below for my explanation why!

If you disable auto gain, djay will set the gain to 12’o clock if you load a new track. As the Beatpad doesn’t send the gain knob position automatically when a song is loaded, it can’t update the gain value to the actual position of the knob. If you now move the gain knob, the Beatpad sends information about the position and the gain jumps to this value.

If you enable auto gain, djay calculated the perfect gain settings so you don’t even need to change the position of the gain knob.

So, if you want to have full control of the gain knob and don’t want to rely on the auto gain feature, you need to adjust the gain knob for each track by yourself before you start to mix it into your set.

I have now set auto gain in djay2 to ON and I set the gains on my beatpad to 12 o clock and don’t touch them, as djay with match the volumes on each track! If one IS slightly quieter, I just use the fader to match the volume, but never touch the gains! And it works perfect for me!
Hope this helps guys!
