VJay For Mac !

There is no good software for mac for VJays/DJays... VirtualDJ has alot of stability problems on mac, an serato video is hardware dependent (RANE ssl) so very expensive.

Please make a Vjay software with all the Djay capabilities (your good itunes integration)
- We also need live feed video from macbook pro's webcam or an external iphone (this is not complicated as there are already apps for that such as iwebcamera)

- midi controller
- Text input
- Video effects
- Video transitions
- later on maybe twitter integration to show on the external screen the twitter conversation #subject or @people

Me + all the mac DJ/VJ would love to see that happen !!

Thanks for considering this idea.

Any works in the pipeline for a version of Vjay for mac?
or perhaps even a paid-for plugin compatible for Djay?

We As Consumers DO NOT want to use Virtual DJ ... If you made this possible for Ipad and iphones..Just imagine how BIG this concept would be for MAC users (:

Will there be a VJay for Mac OS X in the near future or will I have to buy an extra large (storage) iPad? I want to take ONE device to DJ/VJ with on cruise ships rather than have to take a MacBook AND an iPad for mp3s and mp4s respectively.

Guys, are you sure you want this? I mean, you would have to have ALL your videos in iTunes. That is the ONLY way this software will integrate with your music.

They have ABSOLUTELY no plans to get away from iTunes... I stopped using it because I don't want to be a slave to iTunes.

Thanks for your ongoing participation and feedback in our forum.

Although, I find your statement really interesting, especially considering the fact that we never reveal any future plans regarding our products.

Which app do you prefer to organize your media files?

As with ALL other dj related software, the files are organized WITHIN the software itself. No external app... Djay and Vjay should organize the files within the software itself and have an option to use iTunes.

Most dj's put their tracks in a folder. Then, the tracks are organized by the software, based on the folder structure.

Because Djay uses iTunes, it limits itself to those who use iTunes. It makes absolutely no sense to me that a high quality program requires its users to use something that MANY people don't use.

If you look at your own forums, this is absolutely one of the most requested items. Glad to help implement this if you would like.... but you would have to get out of bed with iTunes first.

Oh, and this feature has been asked about for years! That proves that there is no intention on changing anything. You got my money and I am not using your software based on this so I guess you won no matter what.

I wonder if any rep has considered the new breed of MUSICIANS using DJ programs as an "tool" or "instrument" which is Hi-Jacked along with other aux ins and midi controlled keyboard sounds. I happened upon this approach by complete serendipity with Torq and Reason, while feeding live drumming into a couple stereo audio tracks (auxilliary and mic'd drum kit are simple to set up if you are vaguely familiar with a 8-12 Ch mixer that sits PRE any DAW interface software such as Pro Tools, which was how I discovered the systemic "intermedia" that Dave Macuinous spoke of, only missing the vital visual elements. Holding my degree in visual public art, I had grown away from the concept of BIG AUDIENCE and toward smaller, affrontive audience. I'm not trained as a DJ, VJ, etc, but I am trained as a public artist & I see a STRONG RESEMBLANCE TO PUBLIC ART.
I hope I've confused you as much as myself (lol), but there's just too much to write.
I know, I know, ... I love algoriddim. But there are others poppin up all over. In fact at the time I'm writing this, DJay is on my Mac. I use Final Cut Pro X for my films, which are just as fluxed up and cut up as the audio I set it to. All of this would not be possible without the DJ & VJay Apps, yet the farther I go, the more I find I use EVERY POSSIBLE interface; starting with my hands and fingers as the guitar finger-picker/drummer with an issue of recording modulating beats throughout marathon hour, 2 hour sessions. I feel for you all. Equipment glitches are awful, yet sometimes they can work to your advantage.

Btw, since I use Audio HiJack Pro quite a bit to wrangle in every bit of data, I use it's folder within my music folder ... simply to avoid iTunes. ITunes for me is for final mixed, bounced audio that I may study my work with with to find where one LP starts and an EP begins, etc.

For me I don't care itunes or not itunes ! The way people organize music files without itunes is even a nightmare ! With a lot of people complaining about lost mp3s !!! For me having itunes playlist directly in djay or vjay is even a optimization tool !!!

It's been requested for two years... If it hasn't happened by now, I would not hold my breath.

I am beginning to think this software is dead, with nothing being updated. I mean, no native mapping for the Denon MC6000. The most popular controller in the world... that says a ton.

THEY ARE DOING MANY THINGS FOR IPAD AND IPHONE LIKE THIS...Algoriddim partners with Spotify
for the next-generation DJ solution for iPad and iPhone.
Instantly access over 20 million tracks..... WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE MAC STUFF.....Why don't Algoriddim just say were not making any updates and nothing new for the mac so we can stop being pissed off when we see new stuff for iPhone and iPad.

I agree, its about time they update this app for us MAC users. Maybe they want us to stop using it so that they can go totally with these djs on iphones. For a while I thought DJay was gonna give Serato and VDJ a run...But I guess they have decided to concentrate elsewhere

Honestly, if this update or new product isn't substantial, I am done with dJay. I have invested too much time and money only to wait 6 months for a reply to my post.

The customer service is terrible. Support is non-existent. They update an app and then disappear for months. No support for popular controllers...

ONE MORE and I am done. Too many other good software titles for professional dj's out there.

You hear that Warren... make it good or I am outta here. (expecting a reply in November)

the future release ???????? You have to let people know something is coming , its been so long sense y'all had an update we will never know ..we will anticipate it and get it if you tell us something..all companies do that. you keep doing things for iPad and iPhone but not the mac......if we keep commenting on this subject then we must want the product. when we stop which will be very soon then you might as well get rid of djay. but this my last comment I'm done. back to sera to.

Andre, they keep coming out with iPad versions but nothing for Mac. It is VERY frustrating I assure you. They come out with something and then go on vacation for a year. Now that there is spottily integration, I don't expect ANYTHING for at least a year. Just how they work things around here.

I keep checking back, hoping things change but they don't. A TRUE waste of money on my part since we have been asking for SO long.

They are focusing on the bedroom dj, not the pro. That is obvious.

But yes, look for at least 9 months for anything else to come out.

I reached out to Algoriddim's customer support to ask about Vjay working for Mac. They referred me to up vote the idea here. I guess they've heard us, but after reading about the waiting time everyone has experienced, I guess I'm not overly optimistic to see any mac support. Sad really.

I've been in the market for a virtual video mixer for my wedding company for awhile now. I'll be honest, I love how simple Djay is. I mean seriously, how often as a wedding DJ do I need to tweak the music coming from my laptop? I'm not scratching, if I do any looping, it's super basic, and who really wants to hear "Sweet Caroline" looped anyway? If I need any adjustments to the audio, I'll do that on the driverack or EQ. I just liked how simple Djay is.

With that said, the time has come where I'm no longer playing just audio. I've transfered into a full music video library. Anyone remember the days of shuffling through 400 CDs for find that one song and cue it up? Sucks right? But it doesn't suck enough for me to consider trying to make my entire video library fit on an iPad, nor do I want to invest in an iPad jus to press "play" on some music videos.

I hate to go, but I think I'll be moving onto PCDJ DEX3. I think Scott hit the nail on the head when he said "They are focusing on the bedroom dj, not the pro. That is obvious." It's cool for my brother's college dorm party, but I'm not performing in front of clients that just wrote me a fat check on an iPhone.
