Hello Team,
- Device model (iPhone 14 Pro):
- Version of operating system (ios 18.5):
- Version of djay (5.3.2):
- Hardware/controllers used (none):
- CarPlay Toyota 2019
Your question:
In some cases which I cannot figure out. When connecting DJay to Apple CarPlay, no sound comes out. In many cases rebooting DJay will solve the problem. In rare cases, the car needs to reboot itself.
Hi @LaidbackFred, while djay is playing and connected to your car, try swiping down from the top right corner of your iPhone and selecting the AirPlay icon. There should be some output options in the next screen.
Hey there @Slak_Jaw
This CarPlay needs the phone connected via usb.
The no sound is an error.
It doesn’t always behave this way.
It’s like CarPlay connects sound just fine every time.
By playing YouTube, CarPlay connects the sound when Djay fails to connect.
@LaidbackFred when connected to your car via USB cable, please share a screenshot of the options you see when you open the Airplay menu as outlined above. This screen doesn’t only show wireless connections. For example if you are connected to a DJ controller via USB it will show here.
Here’s an example on iPad, but it’s pretty similar on iPhone:

@LaidbackFred please also share a screenshot of your main djay Settings screen and Settings>Audio Devices when you are connected to your car in CarPlay.

@LaidbackFred did this help at all?
Hello @Slak_Jaw
Here are screenshots. Hopefully this helps.
I think it has something to do with being airplayed to (Baseline) Apple pods.
Then going into the car and trying to connect with CarPlay.
Cannot confirm yet
Thanks @LaidbackFred. Those settings look correct. I would just check them each time you start djay while in CarPlay to make sure they don’t accidentally switch to your Bassline Apple pods.
Ok,
The control center is the same before and after the Djay reboot.
It’s as if Djay looses the ability to connect to CarPlay after disconnecting from another Bluetooth device. I’ll confirm the pattern and get back to you.

Okay, thanks @LaidbackFred. I don’t have access to CarPlay to test this out myself, so I’ve passed it onto our engineering team to see if they have any suggestions.

Hi again @LaidbackFred, engineering is asking if the Settings screenshot above was made while no sound was coming out through CarPlay?
