Hey Slak-Jaw,
Thanks for the nudge! I did not have time yet to test on the back up library. That library is 99% streaming, but will do so this weekend.
The main library I use, I do not check the Sync button when using, so the videos you see for that one is as requested. I do click ‘Sync’ once in a while to push all playlists to my phone, but then turn it off again.
I will however, test with the secondary account and get back to you shortly. I also need to speak with Apple about a bunch of stuff, and will do so this weekend as well, and see what they say.
Stay tuned!
Antonio
Sounds good. Thanks for the follow up @djantona.
So Apple can’t offer support until I update from Ventura to Sonoma (i.e. their latest OS). I will have a short window of time to do so before Sequoia comes out next month. If you want to close this ticket, I can reopen a new one once I’ve updated and tested out everything once again? Or leave it open and if I get the info in before it closes automatically, so much the better?
Thanks!
A.
Thanks for the update @djantona. I’ll keep this topic open so we can continue the discussion after you’ve updated and retested. If it closes automatically between now and then, just send me a DM and I can reopen it. Thanks!

They’re asking me to try a bunch of stuff…will get back to you here once I hear back from the engineers…

So the engineers (for whatever reason) never received the first DataCapture I sent months ago. I just redid it today and resent. Not holding my breath though!
Update for February 3, 2025:
I had a hard time reaching the Senior advisor who owned this case. Then I went three months couch surfing while looking for a new home. By the time I got back in touch with them, the case was closed. It closes automatically after 1 month. So I will have to create a new ticket from scratch.
The situation worsened recently. I don’t know what happened, but suddenly, I lost playlists in a playlist folder. And since upgrading to Sonoma, I’ve had repetitive issues being able to rename folders in Music, and sometimes when I close the app they just disappear (after I’ve created a new one). So pretty big issues.
The metadata issue worsened. I found myself rewriting data for hundreds of songs, only to have the work disappear when I closed the app.
I reached out to a friend who suggested I try ‘Doug’s script’ in terminal. It’s a solution offered on some questions in the Apple forum. Well, that pretty much erased years of work I’ve done in curating my metadata. So as you can imagine, I’m not happy right now. I will call Apple and see if I can recover an older version and add the new songs that aren’t in it. I haven’t backed up in a long while due to being homeless for a while and so busy searching.
Apple will also want to to update to Sequoia, which I’m pretty sure won’t help anything, but may harm (I’ve seen some posts about it’s impact on the Music app on the net). So I’m at a loss. Even considering quitting DJing at this point.
My last solution would be to try to work everything in the DJ software only. If there was anything your team could do to help in terms of getting in touch with Apple, it would really be appreciated?
Hi @djantona, sorry to hear about your continued struggles with this issue. Unfortunately, trying to connect you to Apple support through Algoriddim is not feasible. I wish I could be of more help here. Please report back here on how things go with Apple support. Thanks.
Some good news. I was able to finally get the Data Capture to the Apple Engineers. And by playing around with an older version of my Music Library, then coming back to the original, I was able to restore about 70-80% of my Metadata by double clicking each song. With around 11,000 songs, it would have been a very long night, but I found a trick (via a Mixed in Key tutorial about syncing MIK and Apple Music / iTunes data) about selecting a batch of songs, choosing Get Info, then adding a space to an used field (“Grouping” in my case).
I had it pretty much good to go, (apart from the missing metadata on 20-30%) and was about to Close and reopen to see if it stuck, but then I decided to choose Sync Library. I had saved the Library before closing (to an XML file) but it’s not clear if that really does anything useful? In any case, it may have been a bit silly of me to Sync as I of course ended up with all kinds of Cloud duplicates and ghost/greyed out/cloud versions of songs I had intentionally deleted. But I am also wondering if having those Cloud version (seemingly ‘downloaded’ for some reason, but not showing as extra songs in the total number of songs in my collection?) will stabilize the changing Metadata issue, as it may see that they’re in there already and leave the local duplicate alone?
In any case, the good news is, I was able to get the newly partially restored Metadata from Music into Djay Pro and Rekordbox, so I can get back to preparing for my contracts, and feel more comfortable improvising while playing (my preferred ‘hybrid’ approach).
I totally understand that your team can’t get in the middle of this; was grasping at straws.
Hi @djantona, glad to hear you had some good news and made some progress with this. Thanks for the update.
