Assigning FX To Pads

Hello , I have questions for anyone who may be able to help. I have a Numark Platinum FX Controller. I want to know is there a way to assign my FX in DJ Pro algorithm , like Reverb , Flanger Ext… to the Pads on the Numark Mixtrack Controller ??

Hi @DJEXTRO, this can be done, but will likely require a bit of MIDI mapping and setup on your end. I don’t have access to this hardware to confirm if Instant FX pads are already MIDI mapped to one of the Performance Pad Modes or not, so let’s assume they are not.

  1. Let’s start by switching djay to Pro Mode so we can see the FX section UI.
  2. Then select the FX UI mode at the bottom and choose Instant at the top.
  3. From here, select the edit Pencil icon and then the “…” next to each pad.
  4. From here you can assign the FX that you like to the top 4 Performance Pads.

The next step is creating a custom MIDI mapping for the Instant FX Pads. Please refer to the linked FAQ below on how to MIDI map in djay for iOS first:

You will specifically want to MIDI map the following to each of the top 4 Performance pads for both Deck 1 and Deck 2 of your controller:

  1. Press the Performance Pad 1 for Deck 1 on your controller.
  2. Set the Target>Deck 1
  3. Set the Action>Instant FX 1
  4. Then repeat this for Performance Pad 2: Target>Deck 1, Action>Instant FX 2
  5. Performance Pad 3: Target>Deck 1, Action>Instant FX 3
  6. Performance Pad 4: Target>Deck 1, Action>Instant FX 4

  7. Then do the same for Deck 2, but be sure to change the Target>Deck 2
  8. Press the Performance Pad 1 for Deck 2 on your controller.
  9. Set the Target>Deck 2
  10. Set the Action>Instant FX 1
  11. Then repeat this for Performance Pad 2: Target>Deck 2, Action>Instant FX 2
  12. Performance Pad 3: Target>Deck 2, Action>Instant FX 3
  13. Performance Pad 4: Target>Deck 2, Action>Instant FX 4
