Audio error when using B.U.T.T

MacBook M1 Pro 16GB
Sequoia 15.5
Software version - ? Can’t find where this is stated.

Summary of the issue:

I have set up a live stream to internet radio.
Devices are -
Main Output - MacBook Pro Speakers
Booth - BlackHole 2ch

BlackHole virtual audio device sends audio from DJ Pro to B.U.T.T (Broadcast Using This Device)

DJ Pro is set to Auto Mix from a local playlist or Tidal playlist.
The stream works perfectly for 1hr + then DJ Pro fails to send an audio signal to B.U.T.T. or the software no longer received the signal from DJ? The audio continues to play through main Output speakers. This causes dead air whilst streaming live.

To restart the correct audio behaviour Booth can be set to another source then set back to BlackHole and click apply, after this everything is working as it should again for another 1hour or so.

This could be an issue with B.U.T.T software however is only rectified by restarting DJ or applying different audio device settings.

Hi @SamJam,

  1. Are you running any other applications in the background? Perhaps an automatic Time Machine or iCloud backup?
  2. I recommend you disable Bluetooth on your Mac while streaming.
  3. I also recommend that you disable screen lock / screen saver on your Mac while performing.

I am also running Now Playing 2 to send the track titles to BUTT. I have updated to the latest version of DJ. There is no screensaver or auto backup running. I will check Bluetooth is off and test again then report back.

Hi @SamJam, I spoke with our engineering team and they can’t think of anything in djay that might be causing this. They’ve suggested that you try to play another audio app through BlackHole for the same amount of time see if it also happens.

Thankyou for looking into the issue. I did another trial run today and it happened again after 20mins then seems ok after he reset so a pretty random issue. I have often BlackHole routed to Ableton and there are no issues. I will try and contact the BUTT creator and see if the issue is on that end. I will also continue to try and solve this and report back if I have any success. Thankyou.

You’re welcome @SamJam. Okay, please report back when you can.
