Why is is that djay pro is spot on when it mixes into a song, but can’t find a natural break when mixing out? I have played with AI with good results and there is actually an app that finds solid break points for tracks. By far in my opinion, djay Pro has the best automix and I have tried all the big programs. but the point where it mixes is still not perfect. What becomes more difficult is that if I control the mix point manually, then automix then starts the next track at the beginning instead of finding that sweet spot to mix in to?? Why can’t there be an option in automix: Break 1, Break 2…. I get it, it is the height of DJ laziness, but it would make djay Pro about perfect!

Not sure where to find what version of djay Pro I am using. I use djay Pro as a stand alone application, no controller. I have been a DJ since the 80’s. Started mixing vinyl back then in Chicago, still do. Most every 12” track has a very distinct 8 to 16 beat break to mix on, especially Chicago House music. (My whole vinyl collection has been digitized). djay Pro rarely finds these breaks in automix, if ever. It almost seems to mix out randomly passing several decent break points.
Set that transition duration to auto instead of manual 4-beat
Try other transition fx other than just “EQ” - not sure how many are there in PC
You might also wonna start creating your own automix mix-out cues (and corresponding mix-in cues)
It is possible your “digitized” vinyls are either of variable bit-rates, or just difficult tracks to blend, because, from my mac experience djay automix is really good (like a 80% good)
The automixes are on beat, that is not the issue. The mixes are on beat 99% of the time. The point I am trying to make is where automix decides to mix into the next song. Since it is AI, why it can’t be taught to recognize a true break and not just mix at some random point. I know it says it looks for the best point to mix, but it is really missing the point. Even on house tracks with very defined breaks, some 16 plus beats long, it misses the break. Just playing around with ChatGPT I was able to teach it to find the break more times than not. It seems like this would be something fairly simple to implement into the program. There is a program called Lexicon DJ that can find the best cue and break points for your whole collection, so it is possible to implement something like that into djayPro. Cue points are not an issue, djayPro is perfect with those, it’s just finding the breaks!!
Hi @John_Sokol, thanks for the additional info and explanation. There is currently no way to change/customize how the Automix AI determines the ideal mix in/out points. You make some interesting suggestions, so I have changed this topic from a Question to a Suggestion and will share this with our dev team for future consideration. Thanks!
