I am new to DJing and the question might be stupid.
I am not into mixing, but would like to have a good setup for playing music on events. Mixing and transitions are not required.
My ideal setup: an automix manual queue playing on decks 1 and 2. I would use decks three and four for listing (cueing) on headphones.
I understand it would be great to have a controller, specially for the headphones thing.
Do I need a four channel grv6 controller for the four decks setup?
Definitely yes!
If you want to use 4 channels, the ideal setup is a 4-channel controller. You can use keyboard shortcuts, but honestly, nothing beats having a proper controller — way better than a keyboard.
As for Automix, djay Pro offers tons of configuration options.
I personally use the Lunar Echo transition with Automatic duration, no tempo adjustment, and start point enabled (if available).
Each mix starts about 3 seconds before the previous track ends… but of course, everyone will have their own preferences.
You can also preview/cue songs directly from the library.
