Beatgrids One Beat Ahead, Re-analysis Not Fixing

Hi everyone,

I’m running djay Pro on Windows 11 and I’ve run into what appears to be a serious beatgrid corruption issue.

Across my entire library, the beatgrids have shifted and are consistently about one beat ahead. It’s affecting everything in the collection.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Manually re-analyzed every track

  • Adjusted analysis settings in multiple ways

  • Restarted the software multiple times

  • Tested across multiple controllers (so this is not a controller issue)

Re-analysis has corrected some tracks, but many either:

  • Re-analyse and still remain one beat off, or

  • Appear to re-analyse but nothing actually changes

At this point, it feels like the underlying beatgrid or analysis data may be corrupted.

I have not reinstalled the software. I’m honestly reluctant to do so because I’m concerned about losing my entire library, and I’ve previously had issues restoring backups due to file path mismatches. So I’d really prefer not to wipe everything unless absolutely necessary.

What I’m trying to figure out is:

  1. Where exactly is beatgrid and analysis data stored in the Windows 11 version?

  2. Is there a specific database or cache file that can be safely deleted to force a clean rebuild of all beatgrid data?

  3. Would deleting any particular cache or analysis folders trigger a full re-analysis?

  4. Is there any known issue where beatgrids globally shift forward by one beat?

I’d really appreciate guidance on how to properly reset just the analysis/beatgrid data without destroying the entire library.

Thanks in advance — this has been incredibly frustrating.

Hi @David_Logue, sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue.

  1. Did you recently update Windows 11 from 24H2 to 25H2? If so, was everything fine before this?
  2. Can you please share a short screen recording of this?
  3. There are three ways to analyze tracks:
    A. Loading them on a deck.
    B. Selecting “Analyze” on a playlist.
    C. Selecting one or multiple tracks and then “Analyze” using Right-Click.
    D. For options A and B the track is not analyzed again if it has been previously analyzed. Option C will re-analyze the track and overwrite existing information like Key and BPM. However, we keep most of the user edits made to the Beatgrid and simply reapply them to the new grid; this includes anchors, shifts, and downbeat changes.
  4. If re-analyzing using step C above doesn’t work, the analysis data on Windows is located here: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\59BEBC1A.djay_e3tqh12mt5rj6\LocalCache\Local\Algoriddim\djay\Metadata
    A. First, make sure djay is closed.
    B. Second, backup your entire djay folder by copying it to a new location on your PC (the djay folder can be found here: %HOMEPATH%\Music\djay).
    B. Third, backup the Metadata folder by copying it to a new location on you PC as well (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\59BEBC1A.djay_e3tqh12mt5rj6\LocalCache\Local\Algoriddim\djay\Metadata)
    C. After both are backed up, you could delete the Metadata folder to reset the analysis data only (hot cues and saved loops are saved in the djayMediaLibrary file). djay with regenerate the Metadata folder on the next launch.
    D. Reboot you PC and retest.

So here’s an example. Deck 1 has an affected track while deck 2 has a track that was able to reanalyse

Reanalysing won’t fix many tracks either

I tried deleting the metadata folder and it’s not worked either.

Thanks for the video and additional info @David_Logue. Sorry that deleting the Metadata folder didn’t help.

No I have literally just flipped back to 24 since my last issue where I could not scrub though tracks properly

Thanks for confirming @David_Logue. At this point the only thing I can think to suggest is a fresh djay install. Please note, however, that several users are reporting issues with restoring their purchases on Windows. I have escalated this issue internally, but our engineering team won’t be able to start reviewing this until Monday. So, you may want to hold off on a fresh batch install until we have more info. If you still want to proceed, please see the instructions below:

I recommend that you backup your djay Media Library database and any custom MIDI mappings, then uninstall djay, reboot your device, and reinstall the latest version of djay from the Official Microsoft Store (make sure you use the same Microsoft Account that you originally purchased your djay sub with).

You can find the files above in the following location: How to find your djay data and move it to a new device | Algoriddim Support

Copy the files to a new location or external drive before uninstalling djay. After reinstallation, you can simply copy these files back to their original locations to maintain your Hot Cues, Saved Loops, My Collection Playlists, History and Queue.

Hi again @David_Logue, I see you are using Beatport streaming. Did you recently change your streaming Quality settings?

Yes actually I did

Ah! This is most likely the problem then. Please note that the different quality settings for the same songs actually result in small differences in encoding which can cause the offset you’re observing - it’s like a slightly different song. I highly recommend that you set the quality setting once and never change it.

Yes I have changed it back and the issue is solved.

Thank you

You’re welcome! Glad that worked.
