Hi Algoriddim team,
I’d like to suggest an important improvement for those of us using external mixer mode in djay Pro. Currently, even when this mode is enabled, audio still seems to pass through djay’s internal mixer engine (EQs, filters, limiters, etc.) before being sent to the audio interface outputs. This compromises both audio quality and signal integrity.
Ideally, when external mixer mode is active, each deck’s audio should be routed directly to the corresponding output channel, completely bypassing all internal processing — just like how Traktor handles it. This is crucial for professional setups involving analog mixers or hardware-based DJ mixers.
This would bring major benefits:
- Pristine, uncolored audio output
- True compatibility with pro external mixers (Xone, DJM, etc.)
- Full control and precision for advanced DJs
Thanks for listening to those of us working in professional environments. I hope you consider this for future updates!
Best regards,
Federico (Techno DJ since 1995)
How would Stems even work if signal is not processed by the software? Just the first thing which comes to mind.
The only thing you can override is the mixer’s EQ, and Neural Mix can go before the EQ chain, just like Traktor does. I mean being able to override the mixer’s EQ section so the sound goes straight through without coloration.

Thanks for the suggestion @Federico. I have forwarded this to the dev team for consideration. In the meantime, please use the blue Vote button at the top left of this page so we can gauge user demand for this feature. Thanks!
Hi again @Federico. I spoke with our engineering team.
This is actually not a problem. djay uses properly implemented digital signal processing, so unlike an analog system where a bypassed device or even a length of cable can add noise or cause signal loss, when our digital processors “do nothing” they do actually mathematically do nothing.
- EQs and Limiters are fully bypassed whenever the knobs are at the center position
- The limiter can be deactivated in the settings if so desired.
We’d like to highlight that the limiter is still very useful in external mixer mode and super transparent - it does not influence the sound as long as the signal stays beneath 0dBFS, so the decision you’re making when you’re turning off the limiter is only whether you want a limited signal or a distorted signal when you overload the output. If you’re concerned about limiting or distortion we would suggest increasing the headroom in the sound settings. I hope that helps!
