I’m considering using the Pioneer DJM-S5 with djay Pro for DVS.

I would like to use the Crossfader FX feature, specifically **Tempo Blend + Fade**.

If I select this effect in djay Pro, can I simply move the DJM-S5’s physical crossfader to control the effect, including automatic tempo blending?

Does the DJM-S5 send its crossfader position to djay Pro via MIDI?

Has anyone tested this combination?

The DJM-S5 is officially supported in djay Pro macOS, iOS and Windows.

**Notes:** There was a setting in the DJM Utilities that was literally “_Using DJ software other than Serato DJ Pro_”, but I’m not sure if it needs to be set anymore or if it just works out of the box.

The crossfader on the DJM-S5 sends MIDI. As long as the mixer is configured correctly to send MIDI to djay Pro, the DJM-S5 crossfader will be able to control tempo blend+fade (Crossfader FX) in djay Pro. BUT - I do not know if you need to download a driver for the mixer, and turn ON the MIDI in the mixer before it will work with djay Pro.l

Hi @shimisho, and thanks @Michael_Wisniewski for jumping in on this one.

Yes, this works. Crossfader FX has worked with external mixers since djay 5.2, and the Tempo Blend option in external mixer mode was added in 5.5.2.

To set it up:

1. Tap the dropdown next to the crossfader and turn **Crossfader FX** on.
2. Pick **Fade** , then scroll down to **Options** and turn on **Tempo Blend**.
3. Check that **Settings \> General \> Crossfader FX \> Sync Mode** is set to **Sync + Tempo Blend**.

Make sure djay is updated from the App Store before you try it.
