DDJ-FLX4 with Android tablet

Is anyone on here using the DDJ-FLX4 with an Android tablet? Does it work properly with djay and perform well?

I’m currently using a DDJ-Wego4 with my Android tablet but am looking at getting the FLX4 as it can charge the tablet when in use, but there isn’t really anything on Google from people using it with Android and djay to see how well it works.

Any feedback on it would be great!

Thanks

Hi @djsmoothe, I don’t personally have a FLX4 or Android tablet, but I can tell you that this hardware is supported on Android.

Hi @Slak_Jaw , thanks yes I can see that it’s supported I just wondered if anyone had any real world feedback from using it. Like whether its more responsive than the Wego4 etc. as its connected via USB C and powers the tablet.

You’re welcome. Understood @djsmoothe. Well hopefully the are some users in this community with this setup that can share their experiences and answer your questions.

Hi guys, I can confirm the DDJ-FLX4 works fine with my Lenovo android tablet.

However, the main issue I have is the audio from the DDJ-FLX4 is not routed through the master output.

The music plays through the tablet speakers, I could connect the tablet jack socket to an amp, however I would prefer to use the master output of the controller.

Hi @Chefry71, welcome to the Community! With the controller connected by USB cable, navigate to the djay Settings>Audio Devices, try pressing Reset to Defaults at the bottom.

Hi @Chefry71 , are you connecting the FLX4 by USB cable or by Bluetooth to the tablet?

It seems weird that the sound is still coming from the tablet speakers rather than the controller if its connected by cable.

Hi guys,

Many thanks indeed for your input.

@Slak_Jaw that option wasn’t available, I looked in every category in settings, there’s no option to reset to defaults.

@djsmoothe yeah, the controller is connected by the cable.

I’m pleased to say, the problem has been resolved.

I installed Rekordbox, it worked, went back to Djay.. It was now working perfectly!

Would Rekordbox install some drivers / libraries that were missing?

Anyway, thanks again for your support, I can now get back to bothering the neighbours :speaker_high_volume::musical_notes::control_knobs::musical_notes::speaker_high_volume::joy:

You’re welcome @Chefry71. Glad you were able to sort it out. Thanks for the follow up.

That’s great its working now @Chefry71 !

Please let me know how it performs using the FLX4 with a Android tablet as I’m thinking of getting one to replace my Wego4 as it can charge the tablet in use.
