I’m OG on this software; bought the Vestax djay Spin in 2009. Now have original djay software cd; this is not enough to upgrade to latest system? I HAVE to buy the Mac App Store based system to use my own equipment?

You are only entitled to a free upgrade to the new version - djay 4 - if you purchased djay in or after AUGUST 2011.
You don’t have to buy the new version. The Spin also works with djay 3. Simply make sure that you have the latest version. Select “Check for Updates” in the “djay” menu.
