DVS/Control vinyl/Flatness

YOUR QUESTION:

  1. Hi everyone! I’m having trouble finding flat turntable platters. I have a few from Serato, but they’re warped. Does anyone know which ones are best to use? Would vinyl platters from Pioneer or Traktor DVS work? Do they have to be specifically for Serato? I’m using a ReLoop Elite mixer. Thanks!

Djay Pro uses a 1kHz carrier tone, so Traktor is NOT compatible (it uses 2kHz). Pioneer Rekordbox IS compatible, as it uses 1kHz.

You could try and buy Rekordbox DVS, or the DVS from Algoriddim…Rekordbox seems to be relatively cheap, over here in NL/EU they go for 35-40euro per set of 2 vinyls.

Thanks for the input @olafmol

None of my Serato ones are warped tbh. Could be where you’re sourcing them from?

Amazon Canada—I use Dr. Suzuki’s slip mats! One side of the mat is very slippery, while the other is very grippy(This is a common problem: poor pressing and very thin vinyl!

7” or 12”?

I’d be looking for a reputable record shop rather than Amazon, nobody at Amazon cares that they are records so they will be treat as such.

The newer generation of CV is heavier and thicker than the older ones with a louder noise map too, so try to ensure you’re getting those.

They have a bulge in the center! That’s why the contact and behavior are different!

Have you set it playing and checked if the record is moving up and down whilst rotating? that would imply its warped. Ive just checked my own black ones and they are tracking perfectly flat with standard technics mats.

Mine definitely don’t do that. Do you have any official suppliers you can source them from? I use Juno record in the UK for mine as I buy vinyl from them regularly and it’s always top notch.
