EQ automatically Resetting on iOS and Mac

Hi,
Upon the update, I have just noted first of that even though the “Reset EQ” is not set (on), it automatically resets EQ of all decks once a new deck starts to play. That feature is not activated precisely because it’s a heck of work going in and having to set it each time I have to play a next son. Please repair this feature. It is so unusual. It worked perfectly until this new update. I think you forgot to activate its function before closing it and posting the update.

Please, please let this feature work. It’s an essential tool, please!

Thank you.

Summary of the issue:

How to reproduce the issue:

Hi @Kwasi_Glover, please make sure you also have CFX turned OFF.

Even with that turned off, it’s either the same or worse.
I went to Settiings-general and crossfader FX and turned it off but no good result. The resetting is still going on!

By the way, that screenshot is neither on Mac nor IOS. Advise!

The screenshot is from iOS (iPhone).

Can you please try to capture a short video of the issue and upload it here? Please note the maximum file size is 200MB, so if your video is larger than that, you’ll need to upload it to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to the file here. Thanks!

  1. Please share a screenshot of your djay Settings>General>SONG LOADING
  2. Are you using Automix? If so, what Automix>Transition type are you using in the Automix settings?
  3. Are you using djay 5.3 or 5.3.1?
  4. What macOS and iOS versions are you using?
  5. Are you using a DJ controller? If so, please provide the details.

I tested this on djay 5.3.1 on iOS 18.4.1 on iPhone and iPad and it is working as expected. With the Reset EQ, FX, Tempo setting turned OFF, the EQs do not reset when loading a new song. With this set ON the EQs do reset when loading a new song.

  1. Are you using Automix? If so, what transition type settings?
    Yes. See screenshot.
  2. Are you using djay 5.3 or 5.3.1?
    using the 5.3.1
  3. Are you using a DJ controller?
    No

Please, remember this is also happening on the iPhone as well.
Thank you.

Okay your Automic Automix Transition type is the likely the issue. With this setting, djay will cycle through all of the available Transition Types. Some of these transitions require movement and resetting of the EQs after the transition to ensure everything is prepared for the next Automix transition. I recommend that if you want you EQs to remain untouched by the software, that you select a specific transition type like Fade or Filter.

Additionally, I took away the marking in the Crossfoder FX and it’s the same. Nothing changed.

Ok, under Transition is also EQ, let me chose that and try?
will be back.

Correction. After further testing with different Automix settings, the EQs are reset between transitions no matter what type. I believe this is intentional with the recent changes in the Automix and CFX engines. I will double check with the engineering team next week after they return from the long weekend to confirm.

Thanks. I’ve also just tested all to the same result. This can not be intentional, please, it was working pretty well until this new update.
Hopefully, you get them to sort it out.
Thanks

In the meantime, there is an option on iOS that you might want to consider if your goal is to simply EQ the master output signal. Navigate to the main djay Settings and scroll down to Main Out Effect. In here you can chose AUNBandEQ or AUParametricEQ

.

Right, I get it, but that, is much more complicated and it is actually not what I intend to mess with… having tried it before.

I’ve been waiting and waiting, any updates so far?

Hi @Kwasi_Glover, thanks for the follow up. I checked with engineering and they are still investigating this one.

Appreciated. Please keep me up to date. This spoils listening to good music.
Thanks Slak_Jaw

Hi again @Kwasi_Glover, I just tested this again and if I use Automix or Crossfader FX with either the Fade or Filter options, the EQs are not resetting after the transition. I thought for sure that I checked these previously and the EQs were resetting. Can you please test these 2 transition options and report back? Thanks!

I did just that using fade and filter and the resetting does not happen. Now how do I do that on the IOS app?

I got it on the IOS as well.
Here is the question. On the IOS, there is also the

  1. Neural Mix (Harmonic Sustain) and
  2. Neural Mix (Fade)

Please, ask them to activate that for both. I’ve just tried them on the IOS and they are definitely resetting the EQ.
Thhanks a bunch!

You’re welcome @Kwasi_Glover. Glad to hear that both those settings are working on iOS and macOS. Unfortunately, the Neural Mix versions require EQ resetting as part of their function.
