Files showing wrong added date

Hi,

iPad Pro

When adding files to the library the wrong added date is showing (a couple of days after the release date), making it hard to find newly added songs when sorting by added date.

This happens when adding songs bought in Bandcamp. It work normally when adding songs bought in Beatport.

Is there a fix or can I manually change the added date (although that could be a painful exercise…..)?

Thanks so much for reporting this — and sorry to hear about the confusion around the “added date” metadata. We’d love to investigate further so we can get to the bottom of what’s happening.

To help us troubleshoot, could you please answer the following questions?

  1. Are you importing the tracks into djay using the Files source (e.g. through the Files app on iPad or via Finder on Mac)?
  2. Are the files coming directly from the Bandcamp download, or are you modifying their metadata (e.g. using a tag editor or other app) before importing?
  3. Is this issue reproducible consistently with all Bandcamp tracks, or only certain releases?
  4. Could you share one or two of the affected track files with us for review? You can send them via our support form here: https://help.algoriddim.com/hc/en-us/requests/new - if so, please write “ATTN: NATHANIEL - Cafe-del-Moor: Files showing wrong added date” in the description box.

This will help us determine whether the issue is with how djay reads the file metadata or something else in the import process.

Think Ive realised what’s happening….

Used to have a Beatport subscription, now expired. Beatport subscription
tracks still exist in playlists. More recently been buying tracks on
Bandcamp, some of which have been previously added to the library via the
Beatport subscription.

When adding tracks recently purchased, if they match those added when I
subscribed to Beatport (still in a playlist somewhere), the added date
defaults to the date the same the file was added when I used to have a
Beatport subscription I.e could be many months ago.

Would be good if you had an option to keep the former added date or update
to the current upload date.
