Since I need a backup for my custom controller, I decided to spend the money and get a Mixtour Pro. Have been using for a few days and I must say I’m very happy with it.
I’m coming from a controller that exclusively uses relative encoders and I thought the absolute pots would require some getting used to. But, if you don’t set ‘reset EQ etc.’, the physical position always matches the internal values and works just fine since I turn them anyway during transitions. But there is still a use case where they bother me. If for instance you switch between EQ and Neural Mix, and change EQ values by turning, after back in NM, the pots are off from the internal NM values. Turning causes jumps in that case. I thought there was a general setting to ‘catch up’ with the internal value before effectively changing anything, avoiding jumps, but can’t find it anymore … (?)
Firt custom map is to use shift encoder to control the tempo. I mapped it to the active deck, but it looks like this is not always the playing deck. I can still kind of use it by tweaking sync mode to get it working if it’s not responding as I like, but not optimal. Any tips?
1 - Yes, I would love a pick up mode for this as well!
2 - Ran into this as well, I set up the cue buttons to also select the active track 1 or 2 so I can press one of those again before changing the tempo. They still function just fine as cue buttons. There’s a suggestion to implement global tempo that would eliminate this, worth a search and upvote if you don;t mind!
However, I cannot start the updater app. After the normal procedure of starting untrusted apps on MacOs, it still does not start, you see it bouncing in the tray but nothing happens. The controller is connected and DJay can see it. Of course DJay does not run when I start the updater. There are low-level ways to remove the app from the quarantine list, but I rather not do that. I think it is beyond decency to distribute an app this way in current times anyway. Issued a support ticket on the reloop website. Meh.
My bad, the pick-up mode is in the MIDI settings per control. Makes sense. But it is originally only enabled for the filter, the other continuous controls like EQ, volumes etc. have it disabled. After enabling it for these it seems to work.
Is it possible to reduce the intensity of the pad lights? Could not find anything in the manuals or web and the midi out that controls the led’s is not configurable, so manipulating RGB values, like dividing by 2, is not possible either as a last resort.
Hi @Brainbox, you can try experimenting with the sliders in MIDI Out settings for each button. For some hardware, the different values not only control the LED color, but also the brightness. This is a trial and error process though to find the right values.
Unfortunately it looks like there is no way to separate Neural Mix from EQ when it comes to changing the pick up mode in the MIDI Mapping. IE, the pick up aspect only applies to EQ or to Neural mix knobs, so if you switch back and forth between them only one of them will work with pick up, the other still jumps to new knob values.
Here it works on the EQ knobs both directions. Maybe DJay needs a restart because right after change it might be in a funny state that could be resolved after fresh start?
I’m beginning to really like this controller. Did my first gig with it and went perfect.
I did some research on this, and I think the answer is no, but just in case.
I don’t want to use the Mixtour audio interface directly in DJay, partly because I do Shoutcast streaming and ‘real’ gigs. Is it possible to let DJay not configure the Mixtour audio but instead keep the previous config (when it was last connected or just like if it was not a standard supported device)?
Sorry I’m not explaining it well. Pick up works with the knobs turned in both directions. My issue is that if I have EQ mode selected when I change the MIDI settings to pick up, then pick up mode only works in EQ mode not when I switch the knobs to Neural Mix. Or vice versa, if I’m in Neural mode and set the advanced MIDI settings to pick up, it only works while I’m in Neural mode. If I switch back to EQ mode and turn a knob, the onscreen values still instantly jump to the new knob position. I cannot assign this to both EQ and Neural mode at the same time. I’ll try and get a video of it next time I’m using the Mixtour in a non-gig setting.
Very happy with the controller otherwise, and this is a minor complaint I can easily work around. I spent years using Traktor DJ on an iPad with the Traktor z1 controller as my light travel option. Very nice having a proper professional feeling controller in the same form factor with robust midi mapping in djay too.

Slowly but surely I really fell for the charms of the Mixtour Pro. It has now become my main djay controller and I’ve even found a way to fit it into my new DVS setup. It’s a solid controller that after making a few small mapping changes, fits my workflow really well. You just have to make sure you use it enough to build the muscle memory.
