Hercules Impulse 500 Crossfader FX Min Max problem

  • Device model Mac Mini M1:
  • Version of operating system macOS 15.6.:
  • Version of djay 5.5:
  • Hardware/controllers used Hercules Impulse 500:

Summary of the issue:
Crossfader works as expected except at extreme positions (full left or full right)

How to reproduce the issue:
I turn FX Crossfader on, then select EQ (note: I get the same behavior regardless of the FX). I move the crossfader to the right and the UX knobs (low, mid, high) update as expected, until I hit the end of the slider (same behavior left or right) when all the value on the UX knobs get to zero.

This problem happens regardless of the FX type (clearly the result is different according to the FX but the problem is always at the beginning and end of the slider).

I have tried mapping a volume slider to crossfader and I get exactly the same problem.

On other software (e.g. Serato, DJUCED) it works as expected so I exclude a hardware problem.

I usually don’t use the crossfader so this is the first time I have noticed this issue.

I wanted to share an update (with a partial fix)

I have checked the crossfader values (with a Midi monitor) and I can see the problem runs when the crossfader hits the 0 and 127 values.

I have temporarily fixed this with MidiPipe, configuring a pipe that scales the value from 1 to 126. Obviously I had to remove the mapping of the crossfader from the Hercules midi configuration.

The annoying thing is that I have to remember to start MidiPipe before being able to use the crossfader but at least I get the expected behaviour.

It would be nice to be able to set min and max values directly in DJay Pro within the midi configuration settings …

Hi @GiusC, welcome to the Community! Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. Does this issue occur when you use the (built-in) MIDI mapping for the Inpulse 500?

Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!
