YOUR QUESTION / SUGGESTION / FEEDBACK:
Which of these 2 controllers would offer more functionality within Djay Pro, the Hercules Inpulse 500 or the Reloop Beatpad 2. Do the 4 FX Button on the Hercules work with Djay Pro?
The Hercules integrates very well with djay. It’s a really good budget controller. The inbuilt mapping is good and all buttons and knobs can be mapped to your own liking. I don’t recall the built in FX mapping The Beatpad is a great device and does integrate well but it’s is old and all but obsolete. The jogwheels, build quality and sound quality are top notch on the Beatpad but the iPad slot isn’t big enough for modern iPads and connectivity cabling is also a bit dated
Hi @Andreas_Haase, I agree with @daniel_curley here. The Hercules controller is probably the better option as it is more modern and still in production. If you’re looking for a Reloop controller, the Buddy or Ready is probably a better option than the Beatpad 2.
The FX buttons on the Hercules controller don’t work the same way as they do with the manufacturer’s own Djuiced software. In Djay, I simply assigned buttons 1/3 and 2/4 to FX1 and FX2 on channels 1 and 2, respectively - I’m perfectly fine with that. And in other respects, too, I’d prefer the Inpulse 500 here.
Go for the 500!
Inpulse 500 was my first controller, way before djay began supporting it (djay pro 2)
Began my djay subscription in late 2020 when support came and I was a bit set aback initially with many buttons/LEDs not working with djay. I remember writing detailed emails to algo support about them, and gladly with subsequent updates going into djay pro AI (3&4), alot of functions got incorporated to the extend I was quite amazed and I switched over from serato to djay on the hercules.
Now own the Hercules T7 and it’s even more amazing
What I love about hercules are their excellent soundcards - as if they’re masters in those
I picked up a T7 for £300 brand new a year ago, couldn’t beleive my luck. I also bought the Control Mix Ultra when I broke my foot so I could carry on mixing. You can of course spend more and get better equipment but with Hercules you always seem to get a little more than what you pay for compared to other brands.
Exactly!
The only thing to keep in mind is that the faders are not meant for “battle use” - heavy-handed beginner scratch dj’s I lend my gear to always easily break it.
On the day I unboxed my T7 Premium edition, excited learners broke the premium x-fader. Thank goodness Thomann had my back and send me a new module, otherwise I was headed down to the repairman for a crossfader re-souldering
