I can’t get my head around this hot cue pad behavior.
Sometimes I press a hot cue pad, and I need to hold it for the song to play. And then sometimes, the pad acts more like a trigger: I press it and the song continues without the need to hold.
What and I doing wrong? What causes this change? I only want the ‘hold’ behavior.
If anyone can tell me, it would be much appreciated!
Hi @oleander, please check your Advanced Settings and make sure Auto-Play When Triggering Cue Point is disabled. This will make it so you have to hold the cue point for it to continue playing.
Also, please note that this behaviour only applies when the track is paused. If the track is playing, pressing the cue point will always result in it continuing to play upon release, regardless of this setting.

If the track is not currently playing, pressing the pad will jump to the position of the cue point. If you keep the pad pressed down, the song will play until you release it; if you then press Play at the same time, the song will continue to play normally.
If you press the pad while the song is playing, it will continue playing directly from the respective cue point.
In the settings, you can specify that a jump to a cue point always results in the song being played from this point.
I hope this helps …

What is the most common setting for hot cues? Auto play?
I don’t use it that way, but I know from battle DJs that the tracks are played straight away, and usually also that the tracks start automatically immediately after loading without having to do anything else. That simply saves time.
Just think about what suits your style and your kind of music best.
Yeah, my personal preference is to have this setting off, but as @Chris_R noted, auto-play is common on club gear like CDJs.
