iPad Pre-Cueing Fails on 2nd!3rd album

NOTE: Please use the search function above before posting to avoid creating duplicate topics.

  • Device model (e.g. 2020 iPad Air 4th Gen): iPad Pro 3rd gen 12.9" - 512GB
  • Version of operating system (e.g. macOS 14.4.1): iOS 18.4
  • Version of djay (e.g. 5.1.2): V5.3.1 Pro version
  • Hardware/controllers used (e.g. Reloop Mixon 8 Pro): none

Summary of the issue:
Pre-Cueing issues occur when playing the second or third album. While there is a workaround, the behavior is inconsistent and unexpected — therefore, I consider it a bug.

How to reproduce the issue:

  1. Load the first album – nothing yet to Pre-Cueing.
  2. Load the second album – Pre-Cueing still works or it fails
  3. Load the third album – Pre-Cueing fails always.
  • In some cases, it fails immediately after loading the second album.

:white_check_mark: Yes, I do switch the headphone icon to monitor Pre-Cueing on the right channel.

To restore Pre-Cueing functionality:

  • Open Neural Mix Crossfaders
  • Toggle the Pre-Cueing button off and back on again

This temporarily resolves the issue till the next album, then again of fails.

To solve it, I select “Neural Mix Crossfaders” + Toggel button to enable Pre-Cueing.

Audio Setup:

  • External DAC: Fosi Audio DS2
  • Line Outputs:
    • Line 1 → Headphones
    • Line 2 → Mixer (balanced)
  • Both outputs produce equal stereo audio.

To me it’s seems a bug when I need to toggle the EQ button to make Pre-Cueing to work again.

Hi @Fermioncool, thanks for the details about your setup and the issue - this is very helpful! I haven’t been able to reproduce this myself.

  1. Are you also using a DJ mono splitter cable connected to the Fosi Audio DS2?
  2. Can you please try disabling Bluetooth on your iPad and retesting?
  3. If that doesn’t help, please try disconnecting everything from your iPad, closing djay and performing a Forced Restart of your iPad: Force restart iPad - Apple Support (IE)

Thank you so much for your response, it worked!
I guess it’s an iPad thingy.

  • Disabled Bluetooth
  • Hard reboot
  • Issue solved

Afterward i enabled Bluetooth for my keyboard.

Not sure what did that job, disable Blue Tooth with combination hard reboot (I have done that hard rebooting, but forgot to mentioning it).

The actually support link for hard restart:

No, i dont use a splitter cable, I use a Mixer where i can cancel out the right oudio to my P.A.
