Large Waveform missing on CDJ-900NXS & CDJ-2000NXS

my Question

  1. why is the Enlarged Waveform is not showing. I have tried to Analysed using DJAY and export it to USB DRIVE

    USB DRIVE format is MS-DOS(FAT) and MASTERBOOTRECORD(MBR)

  2. I also tried to connect the CDJ using HID MODE to Laptop but still it won’t show the Large Waveform.

Any solutions why?

Hi @OGAS, welcome to the Community! Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. Thanks for the detailed setup info.

  1. Please note that OneLibrary is currently not supported on the CDJ 900NXS or CDJ 2000NXS. So using a djay exported USB Drive will not work properly with these players. What is OneLibrary? | Algoriddim Support
  2. When connecting your laptop to the players using HID Mode, please tell me exactly how you are connecting everything (photos would be helpful). For more on connecting your laptop to CDJs, please refer to this help topic: Connecting CDJs | Algoriddim Support
    1. Can you please also share photos of the CDJ screens when connected to your laptop?
    2. What file formats are the songs and what is the approximate song duration?
      1. Are the large waveforms missing for all songs of different file formats and lengths?
    3. Please confirm the actual firmware numbers for each CDJ. I suspect these are not both v1.44.

I have demonstrate using HID mode and PRO LINK LAN
The large waveforms missing for all the songs and lengths. as it recorded on the video I’ve selected few tracks.
and yes. I have updated the Firmware to Latest Version, yet the problem still the same

Hi again @OGAS, thanks for the videos, screenshots and additional info. Watching the deck screens, they’re sitting on the LINK browse page with an empty list and NO DISC. If djay had control of the players, you’d see your djay library and the loaded track info on those screens instead. So this isn’t the enlarged waveform failing — djay isn’t connected to the players at all in this configuration. The reason is the PRO DJ LINK path: djay’s supported Pro DJ Link mixers are the DJM-900NXS2, DJM-TOUR1, DJM-V10 and DJM-A9. The DJM-900NXS (nexus 1) isn’t one of them, so LAN control won’t work here. Instead of using Pro Link, can you please test with one of the other CDJ/Mixer connection options as outlined in the djay User Manual?

One more thing — the video shows djay Pro running on a Windows laptop, but your original post lists a MacBook Air M1 on macOS Tahoe. Which machine are you troubleshooting? I want to make sure I’m looking at the right platform. Thanks!

okay the Pro DJ Link doesn’t support due to the Mixer.
im sorry for the confusion, yes its on Apple OS.

Just now, I tried to run the CDJ and Mixer using Only USB cable connected to laptop but still the waveform won’t show
and I also tried route the audio cable from CDJ to Mixer and only Connect USB cable from CDJ to Laptop, yet the waveform still won’t appear
I also have attached the video inside Google Drive Link if you’d like to see how it connected

Hi again @OGAS. Thanks for the two videos! This is exactly what I needed, and cleared things up.

  • Good news first: your connection is correct now. Both players show CONTROL MODE with your djay library, track title, BPM, elapsed time and the overview waveform along the bottom — so HID is working properly. The only thing missing is the large/zoomed waveform in the centre of the screen, which stays on the Rekordbox logo. This doesn’t look related to how you’re connected or the track source.
  • I’m going to pass this onto our hardware engineering team to confirm whether the large waveform is supported over HID on nexus-era players, or whether this is something we can fix — I’ll post back here as soon as I hear back from them.
  • In the meantime, could you please try updating from djay 5.6.7 to 5.6.8 to see if the issue persists?
  • Two quick things for the report: could you please confirm the exact CDJ models on decks 2 and 3? Your screens show PLAYER 2 and PLAYER 3 and I want the models listed accurately.

Hi again @OGAS, so I heard back from our hardware engineering team. Please note that the large waveforms are not supported on the CDJ-900NXS and CDJ-2000NXS players over HID. If you connect these to Rekordbox running on your laptop, you will see that they are not supported there either. This is a limitation of the hardware and beyond our control. The CDJ-2000NXS2 players do support large waveforms though.
