MY IDEA / FEATURE PITCH:
1. THE FEATURE: MASHUP MODE
I want a new mode where you can upload or drag the music of songs you like to be matched up. Remixes. Like radio DJs do — they mismatch songs together, put multiple songs together and it will play over a song and mix the song, all the songs you put into the item like a mashup. Different songs go to different beats or overlapping time frame.
This feature will be totally free, you don’t have to pay for subscription for this feature.
2. WHY THIS MATTERS — AND WHY TO UPVOTE THIS IDEA:
If you are a radio DJ, TikTok creator, bedroom producer, or beginner — please upvote this.
You should upvote if you’ve ever thought “this acapella would sound perfect over a different beat” but had to leave djay and open Ableton or GarageBand. You should upvote if you want djay to be the first DJ app that can also produce mashups, not just mix live.
No other DJ app has this — not Serato, Rekordbox, or Traktor. If enough of us upvote, Algoriddim sees this is worth building for djay Pro 6.0. The community votes decide the roadmap. 100+ upvotes = they take it seriously.
3. WHY THIS NEEDS TO BE ON DJAY PRO FOR MAC:
This must launch on Mac first because:
• Apple Silicon Power: Splitting 3 songs into Vocals/Drums/Bass = 9 real-time stems. Only M1/M2/M3/M4 Macs can handle this. iPhone/iPad lags.
• Screen Space: You need a 14"-16" screen for a timeline with stacked waveforms and drag-to-overlap. iPad is too small for pro work.
• File Access: DJs drag from Finder, external SSDs, Rekordbox USBs, Music app. Mac has full file system. iOS is locked down.
• Offline Export: Bouncing a 3-min mashup needs fast disk + CPU. Mac only.
• Pro Use Case: Radio DJs and club DJs prep mashups on MacBooks, not phones.
If this comes to iPad later, fine. But Mac is where it works properly.
4. HOW IT WOULD WORK:
New Mode: MASHUP MODE button next to 2-Deck / 4-Deck / Automix / Video.
Step 1 - DRAG: Drop zone “Drop Songs Here”. Drag 2-4 tracks from Finder / My Collection / Apple Music / Spotify / TIDAL.
Step 2 - AUTO MATCH: djay uses Fluid Beatgrid to match BPM, Key Detection for harmony, Neural Mix 2.0 to split stems.
Step 3 - STACK: Timeline with lanes:
Lane 1: VOCALS ONLY — Summer Lights
Lane 2: DRUMS ONLY — Night Drive
Lane 3: BASS ONLY — Deep Pulse
Drag clips to make them overlap. Add automation.
Step 4 - PLAY & RECORD: Hit SYNC + AUTO-MIX → plays beat-matched. Hit REC → exports mashup.
5. THIS IS NOT NEURAL MIX 2.0:
Neural Mix 2.0 splits ONE song. This Mashup Mode stacks MULTIPLE split songs together on a timeline. This future will be a separate new engine — Mashup Engine 1.0 for djay Pro 6.0. Feature 23.
6. FREE CORE / PRO UPGRADE MODEL:
Free Tier: 2 tracks stacked, live playback only.
Pro Tier: 3-4+ tracks, stem picker per lane, automation, Export to WAV/MP3.

7. HOW TO BUILD IT:
Reuse existing tech: Looper engine + Neural Mix + Fluid Beatgrid + Crossfader Fusion.
New code: Timeline data model, offline bounce, .djayMashup project file.
DRM: Streaming tracks = playback only. Local files = full export.
