YOUR QUESTION:

Hi,

When using the DDJ-FLX4, DJAY pro does not show what the pads do based on the selected mode. That is, e.g. when selecting a pad mode (hot cues, pad fx, beat jump, …), I would expect DJAY pro to switch to the corresponding pad mode and show what the pads do. It does not.

Luckily, this is bearable for hot cues, but for everything else I find this very clunky. For pad fx, I can manually switch which is not very practical but doable. For beat jumps, I don’t even know how I can display at all which pad jumps by how much (?).

My question: Is there something wrong with my settings or is this really a software limitation? BTW, other software can do this, so it’s not something that is inherently not possible due to a lack of MIDI outputs from the controller or similar. And given that the beat jumps of the FX actually work, it’s clear that DJAY pro understands that the commands come in and which mode is active, I just can’t see the relevant information.

Can someone enlighten me?

Chris

Hi from another GRV6 owner 👋

This topic is gaining a lot of traction recently, I hope everyone is clicking on the `[Vote]` button in the [first post](https://community.algoriddim.com/t/midi-commands-to-change-ui-pad-modes/20945/1) and that we’re getting more eyes on it from the powers that be at Algoriddim 😃

I just tested a newly released iOS DJ app from a major DJ software developer with my DDJ-FLX10, and pressing the hardware pad-mode buttons automatically switches the corresponding on-screen pad view.

This is exactly what we’ve been requesting for djay Pro in this thread.

It’s interesting to see this working in another app’s very first iOS release, while djay Pro still doesn’t support it.

Can we finally get this functionality in djay Pro as well?

I’m assuming this is in Serato 5.0?

Yeah, just briefly tested the Serato IOS app with my DDJ FLX10 and the pad mode is working perfectly out of the box with the very first version of this app. Given the fact that people here are waiting since years for this FUNDAMENTAL hardware integration feature I wonder why Algoriddim is struggeling to provide this for such a long time…

On the other other hand, to be fair, the rest of the Serato IOS version is pretty basic compared to what Djay is providing (except for the library transfer). Jog Wheel Screens are not working, too, but as for the pad mode Algoriddim should come with a solution finallly in my opinion,

As @Slak_Jaw is receiving so much on his to do list these days, I want to say I 100% agree with you.
Djay has some fundamental long overdue flaws, like this one.

**But** , once they are solved, Djay should be ahead of the pack again.

The release of Serato 5 could potentially be the best thing to happen for djay pro users for quite some time.

FWIW, ‘under the hood’ or direct midi control, my 2 cents.

I would prefer direct midi mapping over under the hood functions, because the latter cannot be customised. With explicite midi, you can duplicate midi rules and add UI changes to pad mode changes.

\>\>\> This would require that the under the hood could optionally be disabled.
