YOUR QUESTION:

  1. My Ipad is unable to read my One Library playlists that I created on my Mac Book. I have several different external drives with OneLidrary playlists and none of them are read by my Ipad. My Mac Book is able to read them just fine but not my Ipad. any help would be great. Thanks!!!

Hi @Dj_SaBa, sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. Does your iPad have a Lightning port instead of USB-C? If so, how exactly are you connecting your USB drive to it?

Hi. Thank you for your response.

Yes, my Ipad has a lightning port. I am using a Tp Link USB 3.0, 7 port hub with power connection.

Also using a lightning port to USB adapter that is powered

You’re welcome @Dj_SaBa. The hub and adapter are likely the problem. I highly recommend that you use the official Apple Camera Adapter to connect your USB drive:

What type of Hub would you recommend?

For mission critical setups, I wouldn’t recommend using any hubs with a Lightning port iPad.

I recommend that you only use the genuine Apple Camera Adapter and your original iPad charger and cable.

If you need to connect something other than your USB drive to your existing iPad, I recommend you copy your music files to the iPad internal drive instead of using the USB drive.

Where would I connect my mixer, Rane 12’s to run with Djay?

IMO older iPads with Lightning ports are not ideal for reliably connecting multiple USB devices. You definitely want to use the genuine Apple Camera Adapter for the final connection. You might find a powered hub that will work when connected to the Camera Adapter, but the connection may not be reliable.

Mixer would still need to pugged to a Hub correct?

Maybe you can connect your RANE 12s via USB to your mixer then the mixer directly to the Camera Adapter. Then copy your music onto the iPad internal drive.

Thank you for all the information. Eventually going to upgrade to a newer Ipad that has USB C

Sorry meant to say only Mixer in that question, rane 12’s are plugged to the mixer

You’re welcome. An iPad with USB-C would be a good option for your setup. There are several reliable powered USB-C hubs that work with USB-C iPads. Stick with reputable brands like U-Green, Belkin, Anker and Baseus.

I just tried bypassing the Hub and plugged the USB drive directly to the lightning adapter and it recognized the drive but no One Library playlists are recognized

  1. Are you using the genuine Apple Camera Adapter or a 3rd party one?
  2. Is the adapter connected to power with your original Apple cable and charger?
  3. What format is the drive?
  4. What size is the drive and how much free space is available?

For more information on OneLibrary, please refer to the linked article below:

Using 3rd party Camera adapter

Using 3rd party cable and charger

Drive format FAT 32

Drive size 250 g, free space 215 g

Thanks for the additional info @Dj_SaBa. If you followed the correct OneLibrary export procedures from your Mac, then the issue is likely with the 3rd party adapter or the drive itself. Perhaps your older version of iPadOS could be a factor. Do you have a newer iPhone that you could test the drive on?
