A) SUMMARY OF ISSUE:
mapping deck 3 to user profile in novation gets pickup grouped to factory from novation
B) DETAILED STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
is there a setting to disable pickup grouping ? because i cannot map in novation deck 4 .
becasue when i start mapping for deck 4, also user get the mapping of deck 4. so need to disable
that, but see no setting forr that in djay pro.
the only thing i saw whas right click on a mapping and pressed delete ALL pickup grouping
and now play button whas shown for deckS (deck 3 C#7, deck 4 C#5 ) when i hit play again it instancly grouped again to both C#7.
On ipad pro m1 2019 i have no problem with that. . i can map factore to deck 4 and 3
Hi @johnnyboyx, thanks for the detailed report. There isn’t a setting to disable “pickup grouping” in djay. Pickup mode is a per-control checkbox under MIDI Configuration > Advanced Options, and it only handles soft takeover so a knob or fader doesn’t jump. It doesn’t link controls across decks, so turning it off won’t separate your Deck 3 and Deck 4 Play buttons.
It sounds like both Play entries are being re-learned from the same button press. Can you help me narrow that down?
- Which Launch Control XL templates are you using for each deck (for example, User 1 for Deck 3 and Factory 1 for Deck 4)?
- When you press Play for Deck 4, does djay add a new row, or does it overwrite the Deck 3 row?
- Does it still happen with the FLX4 unplugged?
- Could you post a screenshot of the MIDI Configuration window showing both rows, and the right-click menu where you found the “delete all pickup grouping” option?
In the meantime, a workaround you can try: in Novation’s editor, set up one User template so the Deck 4 buttons send notes that nothing else in your mapping uses, and then map Deck 4 only from that template. Since the same setup works on your iPad Pro, that comparison is a useful clue, so please mention your iPadOS and djay versions too. I hope that helps!

yes i have on novation user as deck3 and factory as deck 4, and i found the problem. i had more files from the novation in music/ djay/ midimapping. that were names Launch Control XL deck 4 and one with 3. so i deleted them both becasue i had to remap all anyway so now i could map them in the orginal mapping file and problem solved. but how those other were there, i dont know.. so thkx for you reponce…
