Play button doesn’t respond - Mixon 8 Pro (iOS)

Technical stuff:

  • Device model: 2024 iPad Air 11 inch (M2) 512 GB ( 441 GB available)

  • Version of operating system: iPadOS 26.5 (USB cabe original Apple 60W)

  • Version of djay pro: 5.6.8

  • Hardware/controllers used: Reloop MIxon 8 Pro

  • Hardware Firmware version v5339

A) SUMMARY OF ISSUE:

Hello, I am a professional allround DJ and have been using Pioneer DJ for a long time. But I finally took the plunge and invested in other DJ equipment. Since august 2025, I have been using this setup (IPAD+Reloop Mixon 8 Pro) for my weekly parties. At the beginning of May 2026, I started having the problem of tracks not willing to start, in the middle of a party.

B) DETAILED STEPS TO REPRODUCE: So there is a track playing channel 2 and I am loading a track on channel 1, wanting to start the track for preview. The track won’t start playing at all. Several tries on the hardware buttons, but also on the software buttons. I encountered the problem in Hardware mode and Pro mode. What solves the problem is reloading the track and start again.

C) EXPECTED RESULTS: song starts playing

D) ACTUAL RESULTS: song does not play.

So I can solve the problem for a while, by restarting my iPAD. So this is now the way to go, before a party I always restart my iPad. Today I was teaching DJ to someone and forgot to restart when the problem occurred again. This was not a big issue, as I can take 2 minutes restarting the iPAd, but this is not possible in a real club or wedding situation. Thank you for your help.

Hi @Ludo_Looijenga, welcome to the Community! Thanks for the setup details and video - this is very helpful.

  1. How exactly are you connecting your iPad to the Mixon 8 Pro? Any USB Hubs or adapters?
  2. When the play button stops responding, can you please check to confirm if your iPad is still charging normally?
  3. Do you have the 80% Charge Limit setting enabled on your iPad?
  4. Have you tried a different, high-quality, properly shielded, USB cable with dual ferrites?
  5. Have you noticed if it’s always the same deck that stops playing?
  6. Next time this happens, can you please also capture a full screen recording of your iPad?
  1. How exactly are you connecting your iPad to the Mixon 8 Pro? Any USB Hubs or adapters? No hubs or adapters. I am connecting directly with a 1 meter Official Apple USB-C Charge Cable 60W

  2. When the play button stops responding, can you please check to confirm if your iPad is still charging normally? Yes, I will try to check in the coming days. To clarify: The music keeps playing on channel 2 (you hear it on the video) so it seems to me that the connection is fine.

  3. Do you have the 80% Charge Limit setting enabled on your iPad? Yes, this is a setting I have configured, to save battery life. Could this be the cause?

  4. Have you tried a different, high-quality, properly shielded, USB cable with dual ferrites? I did not try a different cable, because the music played fine on the other channel. I am willing to try a different cable, any recommendation?

  5. Have you noticed if it’s always the same deck that stops playing? I don’t know, I can test this.

  6. Next time this happens, can you please also capture a full screen recording of your iPad. Ok sure will do.

Hi again @Ludo_Looijenga. Thanks for the quick reply.

  1. Please try disabling the 80% Charge Limit. I’ve experienced issues with the setting and certain Reloop hardware
  2. I personally use the DJ specific Chroma Cables from DJ TechTools.

Hi again @Ludo_Looijenga, just following up to see if disabling the 80% charge limit helped.

Good Afternoon,

I have disabled the option right away,…also I have purchased a techtools chroma cable.

Tonight I have a wedding and will use the new cable for the first time.

Will get back to you about the result. Thanks

Sounds good. Thanks for the update @Ludo_Looijenga.

Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!
