Hi, djay has stopped alerting/warning me when adding a track to a playlist that’s already in there, which it used to do. have tried rebooting.

  • Device model (macbook pro):
  • Version of operating system macOS 15.6:
  • Version of djay (5.4.3):
  • Hardware/controllers used (N/A):

Summary of the issue:

How to reproduce the issue:

Hi @jpb83, thanks for the info.

  1. What source(s) is this happening with (Tidal, Apple Music Streaming, Local Music, etc.)?
  2. If Local Music, what file formats are you using and where are the files stored (internal drive, iCloud, external drive, etc.)?
  3. I’m not able to replicate this on my Mac, can you please capture and share a short screen recording of this that I can pass onto engineering? Thanks!

Hello! It’s been a week since my last reply. I’m going to consider this topic completed for now so I can focus on others. However, please feel free to respond and we can definitely revisit this. Thanks!

Hi, I forgot to reply to this as the problem went away. But then it just did it again:
happening with local tracks, mp3’s stored on internal hard drive

macbook pro 2023 m2 pro
sequoia 15.6
djay pro 5.4.4

Thanks for the additional info @jpb83. I’m still unable to replicate this. Can you please capture and share a short video of the issue to help clarify what’s happening? Thanks!

sorry for the delay, I haven’t been able to replicate issue again either anyway, and with new mac and djay update hopefully it doesn’t come back

That’s good news! Thanks for the follow up @jpb83

I’ve had the same problem and it still exist in my latest djay version before 5.5.
I made a video the first time I posted this issue around a year ago but I can’t find it in the forum search.
I noticed whenever you make a playlist it’s a hit or miss if the pop-up warning will show when you have duplicates. For example only some playlist have this issue while others the pop-up warning works.
If the pop-up doesn’t appear a fix would be to make a new playlist, drag the songs from the first playlist over and most of the time the pop-up warning will work for the new playlist.

Thanks!

Hi, so this is officially an ongoing issue now. Very inconvenient, and we really need a fix!

I’m on Djay pro 5.5 macos, have updated to tahoe.

Thanks for the video @jpb83 - this is very helpful. Sorry to hear the issue has returned. I’m still not able to reproduce this on my Mac so I’ve shared your video and info with are engineering team to see if they can replicate this. I’ll report back when I have news.

Hi again @jpb83, can you please upload your djay Media Library database file to your Google Drive/Dropbox, enable sharing permissions, then share a link to it here or send it to me in a DM?

  1. On iOS you can find the database using the Files app in On My iPhone/iPad>djay>User Data.
  2. On macOS it can be found in ~/Music>djay.
  3. On Windows it can be found in %HOMEPATH%>Music>djay>djay Media Library.

Thanks!

Thanks for the database file @jpb83. I’ve passed this onto engineering for further review.

Hi @jpb83 and @Donn, engineering has identified the issue and is working on a fix which should be included in an upcoming update (likely 5.6). Thanks!
