Thanks for debugging this further with MIDI Monitor, I agree it looks like djay is doing the right thing here.
The next step would probably to contact SmartPAD support. Maybe there’s a mode switch or different MIDI messages you can send to get this working correctly. Definitely seems like strange behavior on their end, which I’ve never seen in a MIDI controller.
