Pre-cueing has stopped working on DDJ-SR2 (macOS)

Hi Algoriddim team

I hope you’re all well.

I have just encountered a problem with the latest update of Djay Pro which has caused pre-cueing to stop working – see details below. Any help/guidance is much appreciated, as I have a party to DJ at this weekend :grimacing: (I know, I shouldn’t have updated before the gig but didn’t think there would be any issue looking at the release notes)

p.s. nothing else has changed, other than the update to Djay Pro. I have tried to reinstall the firmware but that didn’t make a difference.

Kind Regards,
Delios

==============================================

Device model: Macbook Mini (2018)
Version of operating system: macOS Sequoia (15.2)
Version of djay: 5.5.1
Hardware/controllers used: Pioneer DJ DDJ-SR2
Hardware firmware version: 4.0.1

A) SUMMARY OF ISSUE:
The pre-cueing doesn’t seem to work anymore - i.e. I’m getting no sound on my headphones for the cue’d track, regardless of what deck it’s on (i.e. 1, 2, 3 or 4 - tested them all).
This was working prior to the update I did yesterday afternoon which was from version 5.4.2 to 5.5.1 (latest).

B) DETAILED STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Reset both channels in terms of EQs, faders and effects to default position (i.e. 50% or switched off).
  2. Connect headphones to controller and increase headphone volume to 50%.
  3. Load a track onto any deck.
  4. “Cue” the track (i.e. select cue button for that channel or lower channel fader volume to the minimum).
  5. Turn “headphone mixing” all the way to ‘cue’.
  6. Notice that there’s no sound on the headphones.
  7. Turn “headphone mixing” to midway between ‘cue’ and ‘master’.
  8. Notice that now there’s some sound in the headphones, meaning the master channel sound is passing through as expected.
  9. Repeat steps 2 to 8 for the all other decks.

C) EXPECTED RESULTS:
In step 6, I expected there to be sound coming to the headphones for the cue’d track.

D) ACTUAL RESULTS:
No sound coming to the headphones for the cue’d track.

E) SCREENSHOTS:

Hi @Delios, sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue.

  1. With your DDJ-SR2 connected to your Mac, please navigate to the djay Settings>Devices, expand the pop-up menu at the bottom left and select Reset to Defaults.
  2. Please also check the Headphones section near the top left of your screen and share a screenshot of this drop-down menu.

Hi @Slak_Jaw

You’re a LIFESAVER! Thank-you :folded_hands:

The pre-cueing volume was muted within the software :man_facepalming:

Is this something to keep an eye on after updates?
– I don’t recall seeing this happen before…

Kind Regards,
Delios
