Pre cueing

Hi I am quite now to this. I am trying to split deck 1 and deck 2 in order to precue. However when I set it up with splitter out the headphone jack from my mac, and I fade one track into the other track, I am still left with some residual sound from the previous deck… Can anyone help me out? thanks

I’ve tried two different splitter cables, if you want the exact model I can try to find it for you. They are not particularly good ones though. Does it have to be a specific one?
