Hello everyone. Just wanted to provide a quick update. Our engineering team was able to reproduce this issue with the help of the videos and info you provided. They are investigating further. I’ll report back when I have more news. Thanks!
I’m also having this issue with the rane performer after having just purchased it yesterday, and have not experienced it on my previous control I was using with djay. There is a slight drift while looping making it very tedious to simply keep tracks in time even with quantise on. Was there ever a fix to this? Thanks team
Hi @thebigmakconspiracy, our hardware engineering team is still working on this.
No worries thank you. On a side note will there be a way to use vinyl mode on the jogs while the motor is off in a future update potentially? Thanks!
You’re welcome @thebigmakconspiracy, it’s possible.
Awesome I’ll only be using it with Djay pro. Amazing software and developers, cheers
Thanks for the positive feedback @thebigmakconspiracy
Hello is this issue still being looked at? I’ve got the new update and it still seems to be drifting whilst looping, and will only stay in time while sync is on, thanks
Hi @thebigmakconspiracy, yes, engineering is still investigating this issue. I’ll share more news when I have it. Thanks!
The release notes for 5.6.3 were for a different issue: “Sync on motorized controllers slightly off at track start”.
Also, I have merged these two topics into one as they are very closely related.
No worries thanks for the update. On a side note I was wondering if there was a way to set the first cue while the deck is still playing? It seems it needs to be paused before I can do so, not a major issue but it’s the only other that I’ve encountered, thanks team!
Are you talking about the main cue that you set with the cue button? if so the idea behind that is it returns you to where you set it when the track is playing so you can only move it whilst the track is paused, by design.
Yeah that’s it, I think previously I was able to grab and hold the jog wheel (without pausing the track) and I’d be able to change the first cue to that destination. Though it is my first time using djay on motorised jogs so I will assume that’s how it’s meant to function?
Ahhh ok i get you now, the motorised portion of the platter is certainly something i imagine impacting it, i guess you would have to have the deck in ‘stop’ mode as it thinks the motor is still running.
Yeap that is probably what’s happening. Thanks for clearing that up!
Yeah i use either DVS with my 1210s, or a Denon Prime 2 in the main so id never merged the 2 workflows in the way a motorised platter controller does, its either no cue at all with DVS (apart from hot cues) or having the standard CDJ style Cue/Play buttons on the Prime 2.
I think if i was using the One or Performer id just have the master cue redundant and go DVS style with the first hot cue being my downbeat…. although switching between that and a non-motorised controller might cause some confusion.
Yea that’s my issue, I’ve used cdjs for years and have adapted to that specific style of cueing and looping, these are my first motorised jogs so was unaware you would have to pause them to set that first cue. I did read that some controllers offer a shift + cue function that could set that first cue point on the fly. Though it’s really nothing major just an extra step in my usual workflow, I probably just need to make better use of the hot cues but it’s mostly because that initial cue also acts as the loop in feature which I rely on heavily
i changed my workflow on the Prime 2 so i no longer use the dedicated temp cue button and mainly use hot cue number 1 to return to my mix in point now, this is so i preserve the cue and play buttons as ive read some reports of them failing on Denon gear (and seen them failing on Pioneer gear lots of times over the years)…. same with the view button to enter the library, ive stopped using it.
Thanks for the input as usual @STU-C.
@thebigmakconspiracy please let me know if that answers your question.
Alright I’m going to give this a go. I don’t use the hot cues nearly enough as I should be so maybe this is a great time to change that, many thanks to you and Slak for hearing me out. It is lovely to have a community like this to have a discussion with, appreciate it!
