M5 MacBook Air

MacOS 26.7

- Version of djay-5.6.9
- Hardware/controllers used- RANE System One
- Hardware firmware version-5.20

A) SUMMARY OF ISSUE:

- After connecting to DJ Pro, playlist titles populate but the contents(songs) do not populate on the RS1 screen. When scrolling with the browser knob, on the MacBook Air’s screen everything operates as expected. On the RS1’s screen when using the browser knob, movement in and out of playlists behave normally, only that there’s no Artist/Song titles visible. In order to remedy the issue, I have to close and reopen DJ Pro multiple times for the RS1 to populate contents within playlists.

B) DETAILED STEPS TO REPRODUCE: Open DJ Pro first and turn on RS1 and select DJ Pro as source or Turn on RS1 first and open up DJ Pro and select DJ Pro on the RS1’s source screen.

C) EXPECTED RESULTS: contents of playlist should show on the RS1 screen.

D) ACTUAL RESULTS: Songs not populating within every playlist. It shows blank space and empty playlists on the RS1 although the contents of playlists on the MacBook are visible and selectable.

Hi @Thoris_Johnson, thanks for the complete setup information and issue details - very helpful! Can you please also share a short video or some photos of the RS1 screen that I can pass onto our engineers? Thanks!

I stand corrected. It’s the playlists/folders/subfolder titles that aren’t listed or reflect the information displayed on the MacBook Air. Please see short video. Thanks

Hi @Thoris_Johnson, thanks for the video, it’s really helpful. It actually shows a bit more than the playlist names going missing. When you open Hip Hop ALL Time Greatest or Billboard 1970s, the songs are there with the artist, key, BPM and length, but the song titles are blank too. So it’s the names dropping out rather than the songs themselves. I’m passing all of this on to our team.

A few quick things would help us narrow it down:

1. Next time it happens, tap the **Aa** button in the top right corner of the RS1 screen and let me know if the names show up.
2. Please post a screenshot of **System Settings \> General \> Language & Region** from your MacBook.
3. Once it’s working again, grab a photo of the same playlist on the RS1 so our engineers can compare the two.

I know restarting djay over and over isn’t fun, so thanks for your patience with this!

Here’s a screenshot of the language menu you requested. Also attached is a video where I select “A” at the top of the playlist menu.

I wanted to note because I’m not sure that this is related, but DJ Pro takes a minimum of 30 seconds to open. On past versions this was not the case. Also I experience beach balls when navigating within DJ Pro. For context I have approximately 115K songs saved on both a Crucial X9 1TB external SSD(1050 Mb read/write) and on the M5 MacBook Air’s internal drive. However this isn’t the case when I open Serato, which fully opens and ready to use within

3-5 seconds after selecting its icon in the dock. Please see video to confirm this behavior.

Thanks

Hi @Thoris_Johnson, thanks for running those tests so quickly. The Aa button only changes the size of the rows and the names stay blank either way, so we can cross that off the list. Your language settings look fine too.

The long launch time and the beach balls sound like a separate issue, so please make a new topic for this.

For the RS1, two more things would really help:

1. Next time, open djay and wait until it’s finished loading and your songs are showing on the MacBook. Then select djay on the RS1 and let me know if the names show up.
2. Whenever the names are showing on the RS1, grab a quick photo of the same playlist so our engineers can compare the two.

Thanks!

Ok after going through the many settings within the RS1, I manage to find out why the Playlist titles weren’t populating. In the RS1 settings under Profile\>Display\>Track Title, “filename was selected. Once I changed it to “Metadata” the titles now appear as expected. Please see video/screenshot for confirmation. Problem solved. Thank you.
