Hi, when recording your set in Djay it would be great if we can record each deck into it’s own stereo file. As of 5.3.1 , all decks are recorded to one stereo file. This would be a great feature for editing you mixes.
(a while back in serato you can record a set and export as an Ableton session, when you load the session deck 1 has it’s own channel and deck 2 has it’s own channel and also the crossfader movements are shown as automation)
Or can we at least be able to split the outputs of each deck and use a 3rd party app to internally (on the same computer) route Djays outputs to a DAW
Thanks for the suggestion @Donn. Interesting idea. I have forwarded this to the dev team for consideration. In the meantime, please use the blue Vote button at the top left of this page so we can gauge user demand for this feature. Thanks!
Imagine being able to export your mix as an Ableton Live set ready for editing with all eq and fader adjustments drawn in to the automation lanes. I’m not sure how many people would require this type of functionality tho.
Yeah, it’s definitely a niche feature. It’s aimed at those who like to record their performances and have the option to edit them afterward.
There are plenty of programs you can use to make mixtapes, mashups, custom edits, etc., but most require you to plan your track selections in advance. In contrast, recording your performance live in Djay is a much more organic process—plus, you already have your cues, loops, and crates set up and ready to go (the only snag is you can’t edit later).
Exporting an Ableton set would be amazing, though maybe a bit of a long shot. Still, if we can get a virtual output from each deck and use something like Soundflower or any virtual audio routing software to send each deck to it’s own channel in a DAW, it should be doable.
When I am recording DJ sets and I need to use tracks from streaming services route the second output in DJPro to a piece of software called black hole audio, This can then be used as an input channel on Ableton. I hope this helps.
No I’m afraid not. It’s just the whole mix via booth output. Still very useful tho. I use it to record set for a radio show, then I overdub the chatting.
