Recovering renamed recordings

Hi,
I was trying to transfer a mix I’ve done to my Mac.
I renamed it, in iTunes, and then dragged and dropped it onto the desktop. When I open it is is not an aif file, but opens a text edit document.
I also cannot see the file in the djay app…
It’s a really important recording, so I would appreciate your help in how to locate and restore it to an aif file
I’ve looked in Finder, but it isn’t showing there…

is the recording being displayed in the djay recording list?
