REV7 Beatgrid and waveform drifting

  • Device model (iPad Pro 12.9 (6th
    generation)
    :
  • Version of operating system (ipadOS 26.0.1)
  • Version of djay (5.5)
  • Hardware/controllers used (Pioneer Rev7):

**Summary of the issue: Beat grid / waveform drifting when hitting play button , does not drift on cue only play button

How to reproduce the issue:

Hi @Alex_Foreal, welcome to the Community! Since this sounds repeatable, can you please capture and share a short video of the issue to help clarify what’s happening? Thanks!

How do I upload video?

Hi @Alex_Foreal, simply attach it to your post using the upload icon.

As you can see 1st track when you hit play it goes off beat , 2nd track drifts away going off beat . It also does it when using sync.

Thanks for the video @Alex_Foreal. Can you please share a screen recording instead? I need to see your entire screen.

  1. Are you using Sync?
  2. Are the songs set to the same BPM?
  3. Does this happen with every song or just certain songs?
  4. Do any of the songs have a Dynamic BPM or are they both Straight BPM?
  5. Does this issue occur if your REV7 is not connected to your iPad?
  6. How exactly are you connecting your iPad to the REV7? Are you using any USB Adapters or USB Hubs?

Not using sync , but it does do it using sync as well , does it on every song, Same BPM, using the reloop hub with USB- C to rev 7. Never had an issue till update to 5.5

Thanks for the video and additional info.
Can you please also answer my other question above?

Can you please try connecting directly to the REV7 without using the Reloop Stand Hub?

Issue does not occur when just using app on iPad , only when Rev7 plugged in. I bypassed Reloop hub and still drifting/ skipping when hitting play on rev7. I tried it with a Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX and it’s fine using with iPad and using reloop hub. So I’m guessing updated 5.5 affected rev7.

Thanks for the additional info @Alex_Foreal. I’ve passed this onto our hardware team to see if they can reproduce the issue. I’ll report back when I have news. Thanks!

Hi again @Alex_Foreal, engineering was able to reproduce this and is investigating further. In the meantime, please navigate to the djay Settings>MIDI Devices>Scratch Settings and turn OFF Instant Start Motorized Controllers.

EDIT: engineering has identified the issue and is working on a fix which should be included in an upcoming update (likely 5.5.1). Thanks!
