Sample Pad Colors on Mixon 8 Pro

Can samples have different colours on touch pad on the Mixon 8 pro using Djay on ipad ?

Thanks

Hi @Den, you cannot currently assign colors to Samples like you can with Hot Cues. However, you could edit the MIDI mapping for the Mixon 8 and assign different LED colors to each Sampler Pad. Please note, however, that these LED pad colors would be fixed and they would not affect the onscreen Sampler colors. Let me know if you want to give this a go and I can give you some more tips on how to do it.

Hi Slak,

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, that would be great! I’d give it a try.

Many thanks,

Den

You’re welcome @Den. Okay, please start by reading through this FAQ on how to MIDI mapping on iOS:
https://help.algoriddim.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016055199-How-do-I-MIDI-map-a-controller-on-djay-for-iOS

Once you’re familiar with the djay MIDI Learn tool, you can proceed to the specific steps below for setting the LED colors:

  1. Start by pressing the first Sampler Pad on your Mixon 8 Pro while in the MIDI Learn Tool.
  2. This will bring up the MIDI command for that pad.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the menu and expand the Advanced MIDI Out Configuration menu to reveal the LED controls.
  4. The Min Value slider controls the color of the LED when the pad is NOT being pressed (Off State)
  5. The Max Value slider controls the color of the LED when the pad IS being pressed (On State).
  6. You will need to experiment with the values to figure out the colors you want. Also note that there are different LED brightnesses for some of the numbers. So, it’s possible for example to have a dim blue for the off state and a bright blue for the on state. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions…
