Song loads to beginning instead of to cue point

YOUR QUESTION:

  1. Every time I load a song, it moves to the beginning and doesn’t stay where I left it. Am I doing something wrong? Watch the video, it’s annoying to keep going back to where it left off, and with long playlists I waste time finding where my selection left off. djay 5.6.2 /iPadOS 26.2

Hi, yes this is normal behaviour for DJ software, imagine it being comparable to placing the needle on the start of the record, each time you put a new record on you place the needle at the start.

On digital gear where the track starts is dependant on where you place the ‘master cue’, so if you want it to be elsewhere you should set that cue to be at that point.

Hi @LuisCervants, you have a few option here depending on your preference.

  1. In the djay Settings>General>Song Loading>Jump to Cue Point

  2. Personally, I like to use Start Cue. You can manually set this by pressing the main CUE button while the song is paused. This is a special cue point that is indicated by a white triangle on the waveform. Please note that whenever you press the CUE button while paused, you will relocate to Start Cue.
  3. If you prefer a more fixed song loading point, I recommend you use Hot Cues instead and change to setting to Cue Point 1 (the Red Hot Cue).

I don’t think I explained myself well. I’m referring to the library where I load the songs. If I move my finger to select and load a song, when I return, it should stay in that position in the library and not automatically move up to the top. This happens every time I want to load a song again, which is inconvenient when the lists are huge and I’m at 98 bpm, for example. I don’t want it to go to the beginning and have to go back to where my selection was. This happens when I always access it with the iPad touch but not with the dedicated buttons on the controller. That was my question: if I activated a function that causes this behavior, how do I fix it? Thank

Thanks for clarifying @LuisCervants. Sounds like you might be talking about this then:
