Thanks for sharing @lazo and @Ratty73. I’ve passed this onto our team as well.
Why pass it onto the team if it’s not working? we need a solution. It’s the DJ app that’s messing up bc soundcloud works on other dj apps
is it fixed because i deletet my soundcloud account for this months and i want to come back when it is fixed so i dont have to pay for a month i do not use it
Found something very interesting. I’ve created a paid account for BeatSource (which has integration with Djay Pro). I created a test playlist and found the exact same issue that I was having with SoundCloud in Djay Pro with BeatSource in Djay Pro.
So it’s either both of the streaming service are having an issue or is it the app itself? It was stated that SoundCloud’s issue was due to it’s servers going down o
n Oct 10th. Beatsource has reported no such issue.
See screenshot of Djay Pro on Mac with BeatSource signed in and the tracks greyed out.
so this means, like I confirmed, it is the djay app that is causing the issue. I’m not sure why they’re still charging the same amount for a monthly subscription when the same issue has persisted for now three months on going with no signs of any fixes
Hi @kaizenmaven, I think it’s possible that djay is still referencing your SoundCloud version of the song instead of the BeatSource version.
- Please make sure you are logged out of SoundCloud from within djay.
- Next, try removing one of the songs in question from your playlist.
- Restart djay
- Try re-adding the song above from BeatSource.
Hi @Slak_Jaw,
I followed all those steps and the issue is still happening. DJay Pro is only using BeatSource now.
Thanks for confirming @kaizenmaven, please try the following:
- Go to My Collection → Music playlist.
- Open the Add from Library… option from the song count dropdown.
- Go to BeatSource and select the tracks to reimport. Ideally the tracks should be in a BeatSource playlist to make it easier to select the ones you need.
- Close djay, reboot your device and launch djay again.
Thanks!
Is this something you all are going to fix? It’s not soundcloud
Hi again @kaizenmaven, did my second process above work for you?
Also, I checked with our engineering team further on your specific Beatsource issue. If the above steps don’t work, this is most likely a music licensing issue, where the record label has removed DJ streaming permission on SoundCloud and Beatsource. Or sometimes with Beatsource certain tracks are only available with the Breatsource Pro+ subscription. Could you please share the specific Beatsource track links so we can check availability on our end? Thanks!
So were confirming that the songs greyed out on Soundcloud are due to a music liscencing issue?
After so many weeks of this issue Im starting to think its just a change of liscencing that came with the update and we will likely not get out Go+ tracks to work thru Djay. Would love to just get the truth. Also curious if Serato which also has Soundcloud integration is experiencing the same issue with the same tracks.
@Slaw_Jaw Followed those steps and that did not work either. On BeatSource (with a paid account) all tracks should be available. The only ones that are not available are DJ edits, that requires a Beatsource Pro+ subscription, however none of those tracks in that sample playlist were DJ edits.
As @jabrenica stated, this seems like either one of two issues, either the DJay Pro app has an issue with certain tracks or the tracks that are being grayed out are due to a licensing issue. Would love to find out the real answer as the blame has been placed on SoundCloud when that’s not the truth.
@jabrenica I’ll test out Serato later on today and report back. Another person reported that they used another app that had integration with SoundCloud and had no problem.
Thanks for the additional info @kaizenmaven. As requested above, can you please share the Beatsource links to some of the songs you are having issue with? Thanks again!
Hell ya man, lemme know if Serato works with no issue and all tracks- if so I think its time to make the switch.
@jabrenica I did a test in Djay Pro and also Serato (see screenshots). The track I tested with is Crocodile Tearz by J. Cole. In Djay Pro, I get the “Track not available” when using SoundCloud. In Serato, the track loads and plays with no problem.
I also did a test in BeatSource, there is BeatSource Normal & BeatSource Pro+. The big difference is that with Pro+ there are DJ Edits. All my songs from BeatSource within Djay Pro loaded fine, it was only the DJ Edits that did not load. Not a problem from Djay Pro, I just don’t have a Pro+ account so that makes sense.
From what I can tell, the issue is specially with SoundCloud Pro+ & Djay Pro but on the Djay Pro side. The blame has been put on SoundCloud but I don’t think that’s the case. I have already paid for the year subscription for Djay Pro a few months back and I doubt I get any kind of credit for this issue. Will start looking at switching to Serato. I think most DJs will agree that we need the software we are using to work with all the streaming services that they say they work with.
Hi,
I actually went back and did a test on BeatSource I was incorrect. I have 3 tracks that are considered “DJ Edits” and those tracks are grayed out on BeatSource and they are also not available within Djay Pro. I would need to get the BeatSource Pro+ subscription (currently I have a normal paid subscription).
So there still is an issue specifically with SoundCloud itself. I do have a SoundCloud Pro+ account and some tracks not saying “Not Available”. Here is is one of the songs in my playlist that is playable on SoundCloud but not available within Djay Pro: https://soundcloud.com/j-cole/crocodile-tearz?in=djd3y/sets/t-bday/s-QGG5HOjsYL9&si=d44cd64500954afbaa270877813045e1&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing
Now, here is something I did notice. Please see the screenshot. You’ll notice that that 4 of my songs in the playlist which are greyed out happen to also be Go+ songs. Again, I do have a SoundCloud Go+ account and Go+ songs worked before October 10th with no problem. This makes me wonder if SoundCloud change their licenses for Go+ songs within streaming apps such as Djay Pro. What’s also interesting is that I have another Go+ song in that same screenshot (So Fresh, So Clean) which is available and plays in Djay Pro.
thanks for this!! ya i think its definitely about certain artists licensing- I have some Go+ tracks that work as well- but most of them dont. good to know about Serato! very glad at least the Go+ subscription will be useful there! excited to make the switch! thank you for doing that test for us!!
One of the issue none of you have reported is that in which country you are having these problems?
