Streaming audio quality and services

Hi,

it would be great to resume in a topic the streaming audio quality and available services through each source. Below the informations I found.

— Apple Music : AAC 256kbs, no stems.
— Tidal : Normal AAC 96kbs, High AAC 320kbs, Hifi FLAC (no more informations), stems.

Could we confirm these informations ? AAC 256kbs seems not enough for professional set, does it ?

Many people still remember from MP3 times that it should be 320 kbit/s if possible. However, AAC is much more efficient than MP3, so the bit rates are not directly comparable. Of course, 320 kbit/s AAC is also better than 256 kbit/s, but in fact you can live with it very well.

i would also like to know if tidal streams with DJpro stems enabled

Beatport Streaming for djay Pro on Mac offers 128 and 256 kbps AAC audio quality, as well as lossless FLAC audio.

Beatsource Streaming for djay on Mac offers AAC streaming at 128 kbps and 256 kbps, and lossless FLAC audio. The higher quality streaming is available with the Beatsource Streaming Pro+ subscription.

SoundCloud Go+ subscribers can stream music in high quality at 256 kbps AAC, which is comparable to 320 kbps MP3

This is the screenshot from my Djay library preferences, so yes, it’s true:

All of them support steam separation from djay Pro

Tidal crashes when configured to highest bit rate. The music stops, and the app needs to be forced closed and initiated again

Very old problem sadly, but still present.
Did anyone experience the same problem ?
