Support for Multi-Byte MIDI Output Messages

Hello Algoriddim Team,

First, thank you for the continued development of djay Pro. The software has become an incredibly powerful and flexible DJ platform across macOS, iOS, and Windows.

I’d like to request support for multi-byte MIDI output messages (including SysEx and compound MIDI messages) within the MIDI mapping system.

Currently, djay Pro appears to support only basic MIDI output such as Note On/Off and standard CC messages for LED feedback. While this works for many controllers, several modern devices rely on multi-byte messages to control RGB LEDs and advanced feedback states.

A good example is the Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol X1 Mk2. Its LEDs require multi-byte output messages to control color and state. Because djay Pro cannot currently send these messages directly, users must rely on external translation tools like Bome MIDI Translator to convert djay’s MIDI output into the proper format. While this workaround functions, it adds complexity and an additional layer of software.

Native support for multi-byte output messages would allow:

• Direct control of RGB LED states
• More complete support for controllers designed for advanced MIDI feedback
• Simplified controller setups without external translation software
• Better integration with professional MIDI devices

Ideally, this could be implemented by allowing users to define custom MIDI output message strings in the mapping editor (including multi-byte hex sequences and SysEx).

Many DJs use djay Pro with controllers originally designed for other software ecosystems, and this feature would greatly improve compatibility and workflow flexibility.

Thank you for considering this request and for continuing to expand djay Pro’s capabilities.
