hi guys!!! im playing every weekend with djay with Mixon on an iPhone. It works great!
Im using Beatport streaming the most, its just super easy.
However, when i want to switch to lets say, local files, or Tidal or anything like that. I have a very hard time navigating on the tiny screen. Specially going back to the original playlist you were in is difficult becuase djay doesnt remember the location in the playlist.
Let say i play track nr 87 called Track Amazing from playlist House 2026 on Beatport.
Then i need an acapella from Tiday, somewhere in a deep dive of folders.
I find acapella, load.
Then, i have to again press a lot of stuff to find the House 2026 playlist. Plus when House 2026 opens, it opens on the top, not where i was (nr 87).
Now i know this doesnt sound like a big think when you are playing at home or in your own time. But when i am djing, im really busy and i just get super confused and stressed out.
QUESTION: is there an easy way to save locations or favourite playlist or anything that can help me? I looked into My Collection, but its difficult to use on iphone and doesnt sync to macos… Maybe we can have 2 or 3 small bookmark icons or something, or even mappable controller keys? As long i can switch between playlists easy.
Any tips for this???
is this better on an ipad 10”? im switching to ipad soon anyway
Hi @wen , currently there’s no way to bookmark or favourite a playlist in djay right now. There’s an existing Suggestion topic for a playlist favourites bank if you’d like to upvote it: Introduce a Song Playlist Favorites Bank
Two things that should cut most of the mid-set hunting:
Build one My Collection playlist per gig and mix the sources in it — Beatport tracks, TIDAL acapellas and local files can all sit in the same playlist. My Collection > dropdown next to the track counter > Add songs > Library. Then you’re not switching sources at all while you play.
Pre-load the acapellas you might reach for into the Queue — tap a track’s three-dot menu > Add to Queue. During the set it’s one tap on the Queue tab instead of a deep dive through TIDAL folders. Adding to Queue | Algoriddim Support
Also worth two minutes of setup: tap Edit in the sources dropdown (top-left of the library browser) and switch off every source you don’t actually use. Shorter list, less to scroll past.
Regarding the iPad — the browser essentially behaves the same. However, you see more rows at once, so there’s less scrolling. Also, on iPad you can see the library and the performance sections at the same time. I hope that helps!
EDIT: it really looks much better on ipad…iphone is great, but if you djay on the fly and have no idea what to play yet…
i play super long sets of 4-5 of organic deep house and it really depends on the crowd what direction im playing. I play 3 times per week in the same venue, so i also need new music every time.
Becuase the sets are so long i have time to search and browse, as long as it easy and convient.
And iphone alone is just NOT easy and convient haha
