Yes, there’s a difference between what Native Instruments called stems for Traktor in 2016 (full quality studio tracks) and what are commonly known as stems now, which are separated via computer analysis from any track.
Any reference to stems in recent years normally refers to the latter.
While this may be the case, the thing is that Tidal offered studio quality stems and I was wondering how to use them if they were included as part of the Tidal Dj Extension service. Now, it’s clear that even if those stems are available somehow (something that I couldn’t find in Djay pro) it doesn’t work neither, as Djay will use the on-the-fly separation. Of course, this has its pros and cons. I just wanted to confirm what was the case and if makes sense to pay for Tidal Dj Extension or not, considering now that at least that portion is not working here.
Hi @fpassa, I did some additional research and cannot find any information regarding Tidal ever offering studio quality STEMs files or even acapellas in their music library. If you could share more info on where you found this information that would be helpful. Thanks!
That would also be new to me. I think it’s marketing. It probably refers to what comes out when you apply Neural Mix with Tidal to music at the highest quality level.
